I was talking to my mom about this, and while there's a lot of stuff in there I didn't know (basically all I knew about Fred Hampton was he was killed by fbi, none of the details) She was still under the impression they were a violent motorcycle gang. Like she realizes that she was lied to now, but there's a whole generation of people who have just had this ingrained into their brains. On the plus side, she's gone from very liberal to a huge bernie supporter (loathes liz for selling him out), and went from "not all cops are bad" to "poo poo the cops are out of control attacking nonviolent protestors and media and nobody was there to stop them guess I have to rethink that" hopefully this is radicalizing a lot of other people.

The thing about dragoons is they don't fight on horseback they ride somewhere, get off, and kick the poo poo out of people. It also gives us the verbal form of dragoon which is when you force people to do something with threats. But because they were a: not nobility and, b: had the equipment already. They were a fond choice for the goon squad of the local bigwigs. So yeah, dragon cops.
