If you want a new Paper Mario game like the first two then play Bug Fables, which is charming as hell and actually pretty challenging on Hard Mode so far!

I've played Bug Fables to the start of chapter 4 and I think that was enough for me. Cute and charming but so, so, so slow and this far all the chapters have followed the exact same pattern and I'm pretty sure it will continue like that right to the end.

No joke, I was actually disappointed that the pencil case didn't have big dumb googly eyes on top. It already looks like a giant mouth. Out of all the bosses shown, I'd say the rubber band golem looks the best, and it probably would have stood out more in a game with more conventional bosses. Ironically, it's probably the least of a stretch out of all the bosses shown so far.

Knowing that this game will have partners, even in a limited capacity, has popped this game up to a "maybe buy" for me. Can't help but think Bobby would look better with some kind of hat, though.

A shitty post? This calls for a dance of deduction.
Paper Mario is a lot like Star Fox in which fans just want the series to go back to its roots but Nintendo refuses for some reason despite those titles being both more commercially and critically acclaimed.

Has someone here played Darkwood and can tell me yes or nah? It looks cool, but I'm not big into crafting, and I'm wondering if it's approachable to non-crafting fans.
Also, if it's worth it on the switch, or to go to the pc version?

It's cool and great on Switch. It was much better handheld than on TV because the UI is pretty small on TV and I'm assuming it's the same on PC. I'm not big into crafting either but it doesn't play a huge role and is isn't time consuming. The game is also genuinely creepy at times and has multiple endings and ways to achieve them.

Darkwood is a great game to play with headphones on. There's crafting for like, bandages, torches, and weapons, but it's not the prevailing grind like Minecraft is. It's more scavenging than crafting imo. You survive by avoiding fights when you can, because a moose won't hesitate to stomp you dead. You only have so much daylight to explore and do stuff, while crafting can be done at night before the strangers come knocking. :ghost: :tinfoil:

I wouldn't be surprised if the PC version had mods to make the nights shorter or something.

theres a game on the eshop called Conduct Together where you get to crash trains into other trains

Yes, it is what it looks like!

Darkwood is great in PC and Switch form. Initial loading is a little long, imo, and it burns through battery on 1st Gen Switch. I didn't feel crafting was a huge crutch but you are going to have to interact with it. The game has an end so crafting isn't the main aspect like Minecraft/Terraria. If you want it portable get it on Switch but play it however you can. Play with headphones if possible in a darkened room. You won't forget surviving your first night.

Him and the ghost-eating invincible bully who had a grudge against the local ghost population for scaring him out of his wits and a disembodied heart that you needed to beat up before defeating him for good. Come to think of it, they really went all out on the Spike bosses, huh?

My other favorite bosses include the four armed ghost skeleton pirate king who just hands over the magic doohickey after the fight because it's his least favorite treasure and literally just Evil Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Mass of train hijacking dust bunnies was a little bit out of nowhere in retrospect and not that satisfying but ghost that literally steals your identity midfight and spends the rest of the chapter masquerading as you was amazing (backtracking be damned).

Always wanted to know just what the hell the Crystal King's deal was, too.

I think I've asked this thread before, but are you guys unable to parse if you'd enjoy a game and its mechanics from gameplay clips? Like most of us, I've been playing video games for over 20 years now (this is not something to be proud of) so it's not exactly a difficult mental ask. My interpretations when looking up new games to play are usually pretty spot on for myself. Being surprised to find out otherwise is nice but this is pretty rare.

Very, very little real content was ever amiibo gated. It's nearly always bonus toys and cosmetic poo poo. They are absolutely better than microtransactions unless you are an obsessive completionist who has to have every optional skin in a game for reasons and so felt trapped into buying amiibo

I'm relatively confident I won't enjoy it due to the emphasis on lining stuff up, unappealing looking boss battles, and the weird make your route to hit the enemy mechanic. I personally did say I'd wait for reviews but being able to tell if a game is your jam or not just from clips isn't that unreasonable.
