AITA for suing my ex-wife's lover for alienation of affection?

So my wife came out as gay after 16 years of marriage and one child. She dropped the bomb about 3 months before she moved out of the house to move in with her lover of over 2 years. Our son chose to stay behind with me and still regularly talks to his mom. While consulting with my attorney about the pending divorce, he suggested filing a civil suit against my ex's lover for being the cause of the marriage breaking up.

I followed his advice and they were served with the papers. The following day, my ex and her lover confront me in front of our house and it lead to a shouting match and my wife leaving in tears. Our son is indifferent about the suit but deep down i think he feels some resentment toward us both. I know it wil be a long shot, but the suit to me is more symbolic, my way of extracting my pound of meat for 16 years of blood, sweat and tears. It's my way of moving on and even if nothing comes out of it, I will feel vindicated in summer small way.

AITA For feeding my baby at an interview?

quote:

Ok reddit, here's the deal.

On mobile etc.

Today I went to a job interview at a childcare facility. I had done a phone interview back in March for the summer, and they knew that I would have to bring my baby with me to the in person interview.

When I got the call yesterday to come in, I verified that they had room at the center for my now 7 month old and that I could bring him to the interview with me.

I arrived 10 minutes early (my usual early is better than late) and was handed a paper application and questionnaire to fill out.

After filling out the forms I was called back to the director's office, just as my son was fussing for his lunch.

I asked the director if there was something I could set his carseat on while I fed him. She looked at me funny and asked me if he could wait until after the interview to eat. I smiled and said, well he's hungry now, and I'd like to go ahead and take care of that. She told me there wasn't anything to put him on and she had no food for him.

I clarified that I brought his food, he just needs to be fed. She replied that he needed to wait until we were done. I laughed a bit and invited her to explain to my infant son that he needed to wait, saying he may listen to her, but I'd doubt it since you know, he's a baby, and when babies are hungry, you feed them.

She said she would interview the other candidate first to allow me time to feed the baby.

I sat on the floor out of the way in the lobby as they had no tables to put the car seat on and fed him, changed him in the back of my car and came back in.

I was almost immediately called back by the director. I thanked her for being flexible with the interview order so I could feed my son and that I got him fed and changed.

She immediately told me that in 20 years she has only done this twice, and told me that she didn't think I would be a good fit for the position.

So reddit, am I the rear end in a top hat for feeding my baby?

Yes. He was hungry. Do you not feed a baby when they are hungry?

What childcare facility do you know where they feed the children when it's convenient instead when the children are hungry?

I hear what you're saying. They set the time though. I also didn't ask to wait until after he had eaten, but rather where I could put him while I fed him while interviewing. I can absolutely multi task and interviewing while spoon feeding an infant is not taxing.

AITA for wearing the plastic tiara my “feminist” dil got me?

quote:

So my son wanted the internet opinion on this. My son Chris and his wife Amber have been staying with us because they are having some financial difficulties. I don’t mind helping my kids out but I was reluctant to let Amber move in because of past issues. I find her very rude and overly opinionated.

Amber identifies as a liberal and a feminist but she has a hollier than thou attitude about a lot of things. I had a pretty traditional southern upbringing, beauty pageants, cotillion, and I got married in my early twenties and haven’t worked since. Amber has made some smug comments and I do play up the trophy wife thing to irritate her. She said something rude the other day about the fact I freshen up before my husband gets home and we had a little fight about my mothering and what I project onto my daughters. She’s made comments in the past when I’m doing things for my husband that he could technically be doing on his own.

Well Amber bought me a plastic tiara and said “since you think life is a beauty pageant” I realize it was a bitchy joke but I’m not ashamed of my life. I’ve worn it for four days and I can see Amber recoil every time I walk into a room. Chris wants me to take it off and says I’m being an rear end in a top hat but I feel completely justified so we’re leaving it up to the internet.

AITA for bringing my garden with me when I moved?

quote:

I F(25) have been renting a house since I was 18 (7 years). When I moved in, the backyard was a large piece of dirt, no lawn or anything, just a decently big backyard with a fence all around. It was a cheap but not great house, but I signed because I wanted the backyard space.

Over the past few years I erected a small garden shed, greenhouse and pizza oven (transportables), planted lots of veggie gardens in big transportable garden beds, and put down some nice pavers, an aquaponics set up, and generally made the backyard a really green and beautiful place to be. It became the green oasis all my friends gathered at.

A few months ago, my landlords let me know they were planning to sell, and my final move out day was a week ago. When I left, I brought my garden with me to my new place - nothing in my last backyard was directly planed into the ground, and nothing permanent. I dismantled the sheds and greenhouse, loaded up all the pots and garden beds onto a truck and cleared the backyard in three days with lots of help.

My former landlords are furious over this, and demand that I return the backyard to the former state - apparently they’d listed the house for sale with pictures of the backyard and potential buyers were walking away from the house when they saw the barren backyard. They’re accusing me of stealing their plants, and wrecking the backyard.

Legally I’m fine - my contract said I could garden, and I have photos from the first real estate walkthrough before I moved in that show that the backyard was in the same state as I first found it (although with more fertile soil now probably). The same real estate agent signed off my final inspection, and I got my deposit back.

I’ve received mixed responses though, because I saw the landlords taking pictures of my backyard before I left but didn’t make the connection because imho when pictures of a house has furniture in it, you don’t expect to also get free furniture. Some of my coworkers suggested that IATA because the house valuation certainly has fallen dramatically because I didn’t tell them I was taking my garden with me, so they couldn’t plan to landscape before lockdown hit.

Tl;dr AITA for moving my garden that I build from my former rental house into my new house, upsetting my former landlords who didn’t expect me to take it with me?

LOL!!!!

WIBTA if I became the sperm donor for a friend of mine who once saved my life against my wife's wishes?

quote:

When we were in our late teens, one day during the summer we went swimming at a local lake on our lunch break. It was hot, and we had been doing construction, so I was tired. I tried to swim out to a platform a couple hundred yards off shore, but I was too tired to make it. 2/3 of the way through I was struggling and starting to drown. My friend jumped back in the water and pulled me to safety and then got me back to shore. Without a doubt, if he had not been there I would have died. I told him then that I owe him my life and have repeated this to him for years.

This is relevant because the same friend recently asked me to be a sperm donor for him and his wife since they cannot use his sperm to conceive. I told him I would have to think it over and discuss it with my wife

I have always felt like I owed him a favor because of him saving my life. I feel like I should be their donor for this reason. The problem is my wife wants me to decline. She said that she knows it is selfish but she can't get comfortable with the idea of anyone having my children but her.

My friend has never asked me for any major favors, so I feel like I owe him to the point where I would consider going against my wife's wishes. Would that make me TA?

Yes. They would just be friends like my friend and I.

I need to do more research. I don't know how legally it works, but I would assume I can sign away my rights as the bio father.

quote:

I think financial support would be a start. I don't know how much this will cost them, but we should pay $5-10K if I don't donate. That is the minimum I feel we should do.

Now I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure its not $10k just for the sperm. They just pick a donor and the expensive part is the actual medical stuff.

If the OP is offering to pay for a surrogacy, that seems a little extreme for a friend and as a financial decision the wife absolutely has a say in it.

Honestly, there are so many hosed up "be a surrogate/donor" stories on reddit I wonder where people get all this misinformation and assumptions, like "yeah I'll just blast a load in her, she'll get knocked up and I'll sign something saying I won't be the legal father nbd"

I love that she did all the work herself, with things that could fairly easily be relocated. If the landlord wanted to keep the garden as it was, maybe they should have offered to pay for all of the things OP bought, plus paid for the labor it would have taken to put everything together.
