LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY DOG

it's amazing. nearly every single state is swinging back upwards. I'm in MD and we supposedly have been doing well but they just moved into Phase 2 (restaurants are 50% inside, 50% outside, malls opening, casinos open) Friday. our dickhead "small biz" governor has been at the very least threatening to close back up but we will see

its a summer miracle, the virus is returning, nature is healing :unsmith:

Admittedly we are having a get together with a handful of close family but (1) half of them are teachers and have been 100 percent isolating since poo poo started going down and (2) this is our first time collectively going to literally any kind of gathering at all and we are wiping down/cleaning everything as we go

We've all been trading tricks and tips for using instacart lol

We specifically told a few people to stay the gently caress away because they're like "oh we went to the beach and then a pool party and we had kids over WHAT ARE YOU SCARED OF" and the rest of us have been hunkered down since day one

Yeah. Once Arizona's and Florida's hospitals are overwhelmed, I expect that death rate to start ticking back up.

Don't even need the hospitals to be overwhelmed. Deaths are the lagging indicator behind cases by a couple of weeks.

We do know more about care now, though, so the hospitalization death rate should be lower

Summer camps are really making this harder, we had an awesome location of a nature preserve to crash around in all week and now it's full of kids for a camp so we can't go m-f til 6 and the weekend is way more packed

Just gonna be boxing out with the sun shade on the beach dunes the rest of the summer I guess. I need to just build ramparts

It's basically right on time for huge outbreaks in places like TX, FL, and CA to start making news. People are going to be freaked the gently caress out when they realize it was never actually getting any safer, which is so much worse than just staying locked down for a bit longer.

Noticed when out grocery shopping earlier that the shelves which in the past two weeks were full seemed a bit more barren this time. Either I just got there between shelf stocking, people are hoarding again or our supply chains are having even more of an issue then is being let on.

Lol where are all the American deaths?

We've rarely had fewer that 20k confirmed cases per day since March. We haven't had a 1k death day since early June.

Either the virus is getting less deadly, the age distribution of confirmed cases is trending significantly younger, or
'At least 100 cases were linked on Friday to employees and customers of bars in the Tigerland nightlife district near the Louisiana State University campus. In South Carolina, cases among people who are 21 to 30 have grown 413 percent since April 4. And in Mississippi, state officials said several cases had been tied to fraternity rush parties in Oxford, home to the University of Mississippi. More than 80 percent of new cases in Oxford involved people 18 to 24.'
