So Xfinity waived everyone’s data caps through June 30 because of the pandemic, and that ends in uhh.. 8 days. Good thing I don’t need to upload instructional videos and stream office hours for summer school in two weeks then.

Until we actually see at least a single case of a reinfection im not gonna stress about immunity being short-lived.

Pretty much the only evidence we have that it's even possible is lower levels of antibodies in the blood which tests primarily for one type of immunoglobulin which according to some studies isn't even that effective at fighting of the roni.

And just Honestly, America’s best chance of having a sane response to the Corona would have been if we were approaching the end of the 2nd term of President Mitt W. Romney. If Hillary or Bernie was Prez, they’d have had the same economic forces trying to force them to Open ‘Er Up (although Bernie would have tried and failed to resist) and the CHUD backlash would have been 100x worse. At least Romney would be wearing a mask.

Since there's a bunch of new outbreaks among young people right now I guess we're about to get a lot of new data about what the real risks are or aren't for people in their teens and twenties.

I called home today and my stepdad is getting convinced by TV again that both sides are twisting the process of counting cases to match their own narrative. This makes me think, why are we letting the media frame the conversation this way? Why fixate on a number that no one is counting correctly? Why is it about the number of cases at all? All of us should instead make sure the COVID conversation is about the total lack of mitigating factors. There is nothing in place to prevent the virus from spreading to the whole population. That's the important part! What does it matter what today's *current* cases are if that's the endgame? There's a train coming down the tunnel and we're too busy counting how many tracks away it is to get the gently caress out of the tunnel. If they try to argue that there's no train, point out the half million that are already dead globally. Let them explain that many people dying of a spreading lung infection any other way. If they try to argue that the train's not coming, ask them what's going to stop it. We're not in lockdown. We're not taking any countermeasures as a society. We're standing on the tracks where half a million people just died. We're going to get hit. Letting them frame this to be about numbers in the first place is something we should have never allowed.

The "heavy lifting" required is a general workers strike, literally sitting on your rear end and not coming in to work for capital. Kind of like what's going on right now, for anyone who's responsibly in quarantine so they don't infect others.

Good thing I don’t need to upload instructional videos and stream office hours for summer school in two weeks then. Oh that's nothing, LA's eviction waiver ends on that day, June 30. Everybody in the city gets a notice on the door and then a visit from the sheriff at once! Also on the same day, the CARES act 600 dollar payments end for everyone nationwide! Also around the same day, we find out if the Netherlands BCG study managed to prevent COVID or if that vaccine is hopeless! Big day coming up in 8 days! I predict icy weather

CARES ends at the end of July. Theoretically it could get extended but that'd require sanity that Congress has yet to evince.

Oh. Could the 600 payments functionally be already over though? Some states seem to have run out of money. I'm in California and they're a month late paying me lately. I read something about that being the case for the whole state. California offered all property owners relief on their property tax (at least the late fees) then never budgeted for actually processing the requests. Meanwhile for other states, we've got the 9 hour long line to talk to one person in the unemployment line in KY, if they didn't budget for handling that then they certainly aren't flush with money to pay out millions of new unemployment claims plus the 600.

Theoretically the states couldn't have run out of the Bernie pbuh Bucks but that doesn't mean they aren't going to gently caress people over by making it harder to get unemployment. The cash isn't something the state is supposed to touch just we have X people on unemployment we need $600 * X and the government gives it to them to distribute. Genuinely, it is one of the only successful bipartisan attempts to help unconditionally that's happened in most of our lifetimes.

I worked for a casino hotel in Vancouver briefly and they never allowed facial coverings or even hoods. Wonder how that's going to go. Of course it's still shut down by the government because they aren't suicidal.
