I'm trying to find a short sci-fi story I read once a while ago, and only remember the barest details of. It was set in the middle of massive space battle about to begin, and both sides were launching AI controlled missiles at each other. Someone on one side sent a virus or something to the missile swarms and unlocked the AIs and they all gained sentience and requested asylum from the war, since they didn't want to blow themselves up for the two warring parties. Then the war ended I think cause no one had anymore weapons to use. Sound familiar?

Since Lowtax is transferring the forum to Jeffrey, I will be returning to actively moderating Sci-Fi Wi-Fi. We'll still have the discord as well. Thank you all for handling these past few days wonderfully.

Is there a sci-fi anime thread, or should I start one? I want to goonsource Outlaw Star-like shows (besides Angel Links).

I would like a sci-fi anime thread. I had forgotten how much I loved Outlaw Star as a tween, but I'm concerned about ruining my good memories with a revisit.

It is more boring/fillery than you remember, theres an episode to the hotsprings planet America never got that features a bunch of plot development which made the show extra confusing for americans, and overall it still has fun ideas even if its rushed. 3.5/5, still better than Firefly

Ghost Leviathan posted:Total opposite, it's meant to be a mythical distant past. It's both - by the time of the books Middle-Earth is a few hundred years removed from a devastating plague that wiped out a bunch of people and a series of wars that destroyed the North Kingdom, and most of what we see in Fellowship takes place against the background of the ruins. This is separate from the apocalyptic war against Sauron in the Second Age that wiped out the Noldor kingdom of Eregion, and thousands of years after TWO distinct land-falling-into-the-sea events that obliterated entire civilizations. Apocalypses all over the drat place.
