Harry described herself as playing the character Blondie for the purpose of fronting for the band! So Debbie Harry is Blondie and Blondie is also the collection of musicians playing music under the band named Blondie, because cocaine is a hell of a drug, no doubt. I need to pick up her memoir, along with that awesome looking Henry and Glenn book with the Tom of Finland style cover art.

I suspect a lot of posters in this thread are familiar with at least some country music. Ive always liked Johnny Cash and recently became a big Willie Nelson fan. Country music in general has a well deserved bad reputation, but there are some real diamonds in the rough(not that Cash or Willie are exactly obscure names, theyre just artists I had zero familiarity with due to not liking country music) that I think punk fans can appreciate.

Ah, I meant country as in the country of the Netherlands, not the genre. Sorry to disappoint. I'm not American and I really don't know much about country music, but I'm sure someone will chime in. I like a lot of old country music. It's the newer (post-60s/70s) stuff that has no redeeming value. Everybody should listen to some Patsy Cline at least once in their lives. When I got married to my ex wife back in 2001, we took a long road trip honeymoon and only had 2 cassettes in the car. One had the first two Black Sabbath albums, and the other was Johnny Cash's 16 Greatest Hits album on one side, and the "Murder" album (from the Johnny Cash: Love, God, Murder box set) on the other. It was all we needed.

We should highlight Spain as well one of these days, the Basque Country in particular is cray-cray when it comes to good music.

Thats a pretty provocative dance with lots of shaking going on. Thats probably at least part of it. How about early Beastie Boys? Some of the members were part of a hardcore band before getting into hip hop. This video has been making the rounds lately and it reminds me of that early 90s punk revival that was briefly a thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ5yKJlhbiA

The first time I saw Quintron and Miss Pussycat was wild. The puppet show was bizarre and at one point the puppet stage caught fire and and was put out by an audience member. When Quintron started playing the organ it was nuts. More fire, some scary home made pyrotechnics poo poo he had rigged up, raining sparks. He had the crowd in a frenzy. After the show I bought a tape from Miss Pussycat called Flossy and the Unicorns that is pretty much the audio portion of the puppet show. It’s trippy as hell and one of my favorite things I ever bought at a show.

Peelander-Z is punk as gently caress, and the best live show you will ever see, I promise. I'll put forth an effort post, but the hallmark of a peelander show is you tell someone the next day exactly what happened and they go "ok, you're just making that up."

No, they've always been a very live show focused band. Fugazi have always been a working band that barely carries over on record and even then, they put some very important post-harcore albums. I don't think they surpassed pink flag that came earlier, but almost no one did. I actively avoided Fugazi shows and still saw them like 15 times. I was a very uncultured and cynical kid.
