i can't wait to read how the foreign history books vs. american history books talk about covid-19. i bet we'll ban school books from mentioning america in a bad light edit: Chapter 28: COVID-19 [editor's note: The following passage is required by law to satisfy the FAKE NEWS Act of 2021.] COVID-19 was a disease that killed millions of Americans, much like influenza and many viruses before it. It will forever be remembered that America was the _first_ to close its borders to China, the _best_ in testing, and was rated the best equipped country to fight the virus. mod sassinator has issued a correction as of 05:47 on Aug 11, 2020 |

Here's a picture of a provincial Dutch farmer flying a confederate flag in The Hague during a protest action there some months ago: there’s really a lot to take in about that image. you can look at it and immediately recognize a certain brand of chud, a caricature of American style accidental disinformation and narrative rewriting, a man who doesn’t know he is a parody of a different man who is, in turn, a parody of himself.

I could do a whole thread about the dutch chuds, it's one of the most common things that the dutch goons discuss; they torched 20 different 5g towers, they have all the same insane Facebook groups as in America, they are planning a giant "All Lives Matter" protest on the biggest square of the capital in coming days. They are really mad at the moment because the police allowed massive BLM protests to happen here, but then shot at the chuds with water cannons and chased them with cavalry whenever they tried to protest COVID regulations. Sometimes I feel bad posting too about much what's happening here because it doesn't fit in with the general conversation and sometimes it seems to be ignored, but on the other hand I want to give people some idea of what's happening elsewhere in the world because America is understandably totally wrapped up in its own poo poo right now and it's easy to forget that the rest of the world exists. And since I am an American myself, I appreciate the fact that it can be difficult to access this information about the world abroad unless someone points it out to you, so I keep doing it anyway for whoever might be interested. And I only follow what's happening here, but I know things are just as wild in Germany and elsewhere. Hellworld really spans the whole world, don't forget. twoday has issued a correction as of 06:23 on Aug 11, 2020 |

When I got to work I had 6 missed calls because boss lady was trying to get ahold of me since 7 am. When I got to her office she said she had been up all weekend worrying about the Superintendents decision to allow "at risk" (sped, k-2) students on campus. She asked what I thought and I said when I had started taking students back face to face we had 3 to 5 cases a day, less some days and since it's stupidly high now I think it's too risky She agreed and now we are doing distance learning school wide. It's not ideal but I am glad that we agreed and I feel like I dodged a major bullet.

SF is extremely hosed, but that may not be a horrible thing. This city was far too expensive while turning its nose up at homeless people. Let the tech workers work from somewhere else, remotely. Deeper in California or even from the middle of the country. Who gives a gently caress. Maybe the ones that care about the "city life" will think of the dangers of big city living and appreciate rural life. Whatever.
