Dundon is one of the handful of actual billionaire owners, they can afford it.

If any non arbitrary six team signs that initial offer sheet it would have stopped being a story ten minutes later.

If Aho's offer sheet came in this winter it would involve 2 signing bonuses, one this fall and one before the start of the 21-22 season, totaling $21 million. Potentially, Carolina could see no ticket revenue over that span.

Montreal had reason to believe the upfront costs in their offer were enough to make Carolina squeamish during normal conditions, are you positive Carolina would be willing to match when ticket revenue has already taken a hit and future revenue is uncertain?

Yes. Aho has all but flat out said he was just using his leverage to move negotiations with Carolina along.

Hes incredibly cheap when it comes to spending money though. He let the best play by play guy in the league go because he wouldnt even offer close to market value and wanted to tie his pay to attendance

Without doubt, Mr. Interest Rate is cheap on a lot of things and not immune to criticism. He's an idiot for strong-arming the Checkers, for example. But during his ownership tenure so far, that hasn't applied to player deals.

Yeah, and the guy before Dundon was worse. At least Dundon actually had money that he was never going to give to the AAF.

the AAF was setting money on fire and once dundon saw that, he got the gently caress out. im sure he would have done some awful, vicious, cruel billionaire type things if not tor the complete financial failure of the people running the league, however

Yeah you can rip Dundon for plenty of things and rightfully so, but AAF was an incredible clusterfuck and Dundon had no reason to add his money to the fire.

I’ve seen this man at a Bed Bath & Beyond in Florida before. His wife had neon purple hair, looked like a goalie in full pads, and complained the Tim Hortons k-cups were out of stock.

Yeah, but I haven't seen any other team where the coaches have adopted a different "uniform" instead. Just seems like they're making a statement.

Ha, it’s especially dumb because he’s right. The oilers can’t defend. But it’s because they have bad defensemen, bad goalies, and a bad bottom 6. So “learn to defend” should be “we need to change out the majority of our team.”
