Rillian early on I think mostly shows up to poo poo on Jacob a few times for not being enlightened enough or whatever, since Jacob is the "bad" brother of the group and picks on Dominic there has to be someone stronger showing up to remind you that Jacob isn't a good guy so he also has to be a loser to some extent (despite being one of the most powerful humans in the world and the second strongest necromancer ever).

I mean, at least she's not falling apart like the guy, I guess. Yet, anyway. I'm all for side stories in comics but I'm struggling to see what the point of this one is. How does this build upon the main theme of dreams and Dominic's legacy? Is the comic now about the weirdness that happens in the wild edge and how dangerous it is? Because before this it was mostly just monkeycheese goofiness, and not too dangerous for an entire city of Mongrelfolk. Just like with Star Power, the thing I'm wondering the most is why Mookie feels THIS story is compelling enough to tell.

Something is really chef's kiss about how Snout is just gormlessly holding handfuls of this guy's skin. He seems upset but probably not as upset as a person would be at this revelation. Is Snout accustomed to holding and touching dead bodies? (Unless this dude is actually alive and his skin just sloughed off despite that.) I feel like most people would have a bit stronger of a reaction to that than just looking sort of surprised and put out by it. What is the point of drawing something so gross when your character is just going to be like "oh geez!!!" and carry on.

Yeah, it’s stretching whatever disbelief there still was that Snout’s not freaking the gently caress out at that, and that he’s calmly going in even deeper. I could at least buy it if he went into a blind panic at seeing a guy’s skin tear off like that and accidentally stumbled into the deeper parts in his attempts to get back up to the surface.
