One time I went out to a bar with a friend and he wouldn't stop badgering me to do the karaoke there despite my objections, so I picked Arcarsenal out of the book and proceeded to climb on top of most of the furniture yelling and I have never really heard a place go that dead silent in confusion/embarrassment. Then I fell asleep on the F train home.

I didn't really fall in love with RoC until this year, but when I did, holy gently caress catharsis has never sounded so beautiful. The three-song run from Mannequin Republic->Enfilade->Rolodex Propaganda has to be one of the greatest I've ever heard.

I feel like downloading this video on Morpheus/Kazaa was a formative experience for a lot of people into weird hardcore stuff around our age.

I really like Ross Robinson as a producer when he isn't doing straight up nu metal. Relationship of Command, Burn Piano Island Burn, Worship and Tribute. They all sound amazing.

Re: ATDI specifically: That one moment in the One Armed Scissor video where Omar does that insane guitar juggling thing I still cannot wrap my head around. I had a friend when I was a kid who's younger brother got a Squier Super Sonic for Christmas as his first guitar and I sometimes wonder if he realizes how valuable it is now because of Omar.

What’s funny is Omar hates how RoC sounds. But I can’t imagine it not sounding like being hit by a truck.

Is there a way to listen to Saving Throw without buying a CD these days? There’s only one video on YouTube and I really want to listen to Never race with time. First thing I’ve wanted to listen to that isn’t magically on Spotify or band camp.

The ultimate coolest guitar move is at 3:19. He flips it up on his arm and jumps around while turning counter clockwise. He is left handed and using a guitar where the body is a backwards jazzmaster so it's just the most confusing amazing thing ever.

I think it's pretty good but it was not very well received. It kind of sounds like a more successful attempt at what Antemasque was doing.

It was one of my favorite albums the year it came out but I hadn't listened to it in a couple years, so the other day I listened to the whole thing again. It's good! It's no RoC, obviously, but it has some great tracks like Governed by Contagions on it.

Casino was my introduction to them so it will always be my favorite but they are all excellent. I just realized that I have never listened to Sparta at all which is kind of weird.

The last few posts have made me realize that more than any stadium or venue gig for big bands, something I will miss way, way more are the countless DIY shows in basements and kitchens and rooftops that make up the capillaries of the music scene. So many incredible bands, little two pieces you’ll never hear anywhere else, just melting my brain and loving my poo poo up completely.

Best Friends, Joint Chiefs of Math, Super Stella, Wettest Beds, and on and on. Cramming 25-30 kids into a one bedroom studio apartment on the 3rd floor of a condemned loft just to sweat all over each other and pass warm 40s around and maybe split a blunt with some krustpunks from Jersey...

Its so fresh I cannot believe it dates back to 1977. Mannequin is on hard replay in my head right now. How did they start out so far ahead of the rest of the London punks?

e. the only somewhat similar band I can think of from the time are the Jam but they sound so straightforward in comparison

Art school, man. I like the Jam a lot but wouldn’t really put them on the same level. Bands that come to mind as being super creative and unique are Gang of Four or This Heat, as well as Crass and Discharge, but that may just be a reflection of my ~*personal musical journey*~

Not the same creative league but similarish sound. Gang of Four and Crass are both pretty different sounding and distinct from one another, although are both fantastically creative in their own rights. FWIW I am a huge fan of Penis Envy in particular.
