fawning deference posted:I thought Murray was bad, but it's interesting that he's actually good just constantly hurt according to SAS. He's a fun one year gamble on a team badly in need of reliable skating defensemen. My dad, brother, and I went to a Caps/CBJ game just before the Johansen/Jones deal and, during the first, Ovechkin had the puck one on one with Murray. Ovie had half a step on him but Murray did a hell of a job of riding him off the puck and taking away a scoring chance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MognzYcDDYY&t=30s Porty said going into the postseason that, if healthy, the CBJ had three potentially elite defensemen on their blue line- Jones, Werenski, and Murray.

Laine probably requires Werenski going the other way which, given Z's talent and the combination of Murray and Nutivaara having been shipped out, is probably a non-starter. I want Johnny Hockey. Dude looked up to Cam Atkinson, so he'd have incentive to want to come here.

I can't imagine what sort of package it would take from Columbus to get Gaudreau. Sounds like the Flames talked to Columbus about one of the goalies earlier, but that fell apart. Bjorkstrand is another logical target.

It's just the way it goes, I guess."

If Josh Anderson is worth the risk of a 5.5 AAV / 7 year deal to the Habs they should be sending an atomic bomb of an offer sheet for Dubois. Maybe that's what Columbus is clearing out salary in anticipation of rather than a big free agent signing.

Stastny looked really good playing with Laine and Ehlers when the Jets went on that run to the wcf, love the trade for em even if he’s old Of course, Laine is probably getting traded now

He was willing to sign a one year deal? Why not sign him to that? He's had one good season in his career, if ever there was a "show me" candidate it's him. Is Bergevin expecting a JT Miller like explosion from him?

Is Bergevin expecting a JT Miller like explosion from him? JT Miller was at least a consistent 45-50 point player before hitting 72 this year...which the jump is reasonably in line with the increased minutes and PP time. Edit: Miller had 4 years of 45+ seasons before Van traded for him. Anderson has one lol.

I imagine he used Tom Wilson as a contract comparable but even so, signing guys off injury years has not worked out, historically.

Vegas has to be the favorite for Pietrangelo after trading Stastny, right? The low taxes, location, and the fact that they have contended for the cup every year of their existence all seem pretty nice to a pending UFA Also on the subject of taxes, it’s depressing to think how much these millionaires get taxed compared to billionaires lol
