I see a lot of things happening here. Besides the Hitler bunker mentality, the grotesque incompetence, people stripping the copper wiring from the walls as the grift train is coming to an end (so you mix all these metaphors up and put them in a blender...), I think the Trump campaign is counting on a repeat of 2016 and the cult of personality to carry them over the finish line. No need for ads when nobody can stop talking about Trump. And if it doesn't work, they've been working hard for months to cheat every possible way they can.

Well we've had unbelievably bad breakouts at long term care homes so honestly I suspect proportionally that situation played out here more. Even cases where all the staff just stopped showing up and nobody knew for days until we had to send the loving military though :( I agree though with your assessment.

The thing I hate the most about Trump are these bread crumbs that he constantly leaves to his neuroses and insecurities in his public statement. Why is he so fixated on Covid antibodies? Maybe it's because he got that experimental antibody treatment. Maybe his body didn't develop it's own antibodies. Maybe a doctor explained that to him, explained that he could get sick again. Maybe he saw all the speculation about it and is fronting about the great wonderful antibodies.

He talks up the Regeneron antibody cocktail because he's golfing buddies with the Regeneron CEO. He refers to it as "Regeneron" and doesn't mention the antibodies that much. He doesn't know poo poo and noone's told him poo poo about antibodies, he's just marketing his buddy's product and he's a narcissist so he's claiming he's definitely immune and in perfect health.

That's been floated as an option, yeah. They'll be removing it in pieces anyway since it's humongous.

Gotta admit, it looks so much better right now. Part of me wants to see it preserved in some kind of museum environment (graffiti and all) but it's such a physically massive object I have no idea where it could even go. I've seen some 3D computer renderings of the monument with all of its tagging included so maybe smaller reproductions could be created so future generations can see what the voice of the people looked like.

I genuinely want photos, or maybe video, of Biden's team arriving at the White House in January. You know there won't be an actual transition, so they'll be showing up for the first day at a looted west wing and I want to see what it looks like and their reactions.

If anyone remembers, when GWB was sworn in, there was a minor kerfuffle about Clinton staffers prying the W keys from all the keyboards in the White House. I’m not sure if it even actually happened or not but it was considered somewhat scandalous at the time. But that, my friends, is the standard for lame-duck sabotage.

Something tells me an outgoing Trump administration will be slightly more extreme. I’m thinking upper-decking every toilet in the White House.

gently caress yeah (to both posts). The circle is an amazingly striking piece of protest art, to the degree that the NYT wrote it up as such, and it's definitely worthy of memorialization in a way the dude at its center is not. I'll try and get the court's ruling in full when it's up, but it sounds pretty drat sweeping, holding that the restrictive covenant at issue is basically white supremacist in nature and therefore rendered unenforceable by current public policy.
