I got a box from relatives this year with cheese and egg yolks and I had to fake the photographs of taking a bite using a substitute mooncake from another box.

moon cakes are wayyyy too calorie dense for how not very good they are

I want to see if there’s any correlation between people who claim Asian sweets (eg: ones with redbean paste) aren’t sweet enough, and people who’ve had their entire concept of sweetness destroyed by eating/drinking corn syrup products their entire lives

I like that mooncakes aren't too sweet but they're way too... heavy. A red bean bun is nice though.

I thought I liked mooncakes, but my wife tells me I was thinking of wife cakes. I do like things with red bean paste in them, though, and I'm a big ol' Westerner who's been drinking cola and eating sugary cereal his whole life.

My kids and wife really like both lotus and red bean mooncakes. I’m not a huge on them, kind of heavy for my taste but I do like red bean/adzuki desserts in general. The Saddest Rhino posted:Wait did you eat the whole moon cake? My Chinese friend gave me a moon cake from Yauatcha, this Asian patisserie here in London, and it was amazing. Light and eggy and custardy inside, not too sweet, but so good.

what the gently caress are mooncakes? I thought red bean was a weird thing to make a sweet out of, until I had a red bean paste bun and found them to be awesome, way better than most sweets that are the norm in NA

I uhhh wouldn’t try to claim American bread is sweet when talking to someone from East Asia. What they call bread in Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and China are more like cakes in terms of sweetness.

A friend has tasked me with finding a VPN so he can watch that furry Filipino movie on his Netflix. All I've found is that it's not a good movie according to actual Filipinos. https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippines/comments/jkbpsf/folks_dont_watch_hayop_ka_its_just_not_good/ quote:Folks, don’t watch Hayop Ka. It’s just not good. Others online seem to like it though? I dunno.
