There is no ai for driving. They are completely on rails and have no ability to move out of the way of an obstacle. Hence why cops do not chase you in cars and why you can block a car and they will stay stuck eternally. That is not something you can fix with a patch.

I guess I'll take this one - why couldn't they be fixed with a patch?

that doesn't seem correct and also it's not like traffic ai is a big part of the game in any way at all?

I mean, you could patch in AI for driving. How do you think patches work, exactly, if not changing the underlying code?

I mean I guess it's possible they add in a feature but depending on how much spaghetti is in the game there's a really good chance that putting it in breaks five different things. I guess it's more accurate to say if they don't have a feature that ubisoft open world cut and pastes have they probably couldn't get it working that easily and it is highly unlikely that will ever be a priority for this game.

Driving and immersion is a big part of the game, cars not being able to move out of the way is a pretty big immersion killer. Knowing I will never be chased by anything not on foot or floating drone is a worse one.

i am unable to see tooltips for several weapons i have now, including my main one. when i hover over em, tooltip just doesn't show up. not all weapons. googling hasn't turned up people with similar issues so i have no idea what's going on.

it's real annoying in shops cause for my stuff i can at least go to upgrade and see it, shop stuff i just have no idea

I mean it seems very unlikely that they'd fix that in a patch. Presumably it's a massive undertaking. Maybe as part of a big expansion drop? Otherwise I can't see anything that huge being patched.

It must be really disheartening to know that all the post-release work will be seen by only a fraction of players. The vast majority will either just play the current version or just never both with the game.

I dunno, I'm not being very eloquent here, it's more of a tone thing I guess? I just feel if this was more like a 2020 sci fi novel I'd be constantly guessing whether I'm playing as V or V reliving her memories in braindance as part of an uploaded group consciousness with a load of new self identies that we could barely have conceive of. It just doesn't go down those crazy rabbit holes like it could. It feels like something that was written in the 80s where just the basics of cyberpunk were cool in themselves without getting too meta.

Absolutely. No car chases that aren't scripted, no police or Trauma Teams responding to civilians getting shot. For all the beauty of Night City and all the people milling around, it often feels pretty inert to me.

It's not just the driving AI lol the combat AI is fundamentally broken.

Some people were saying they'd rather have "undertuned" than "overtuned" AI which is ridiculous because the AI is so "undertuned" it basically cannot handle you hacking and actually finding you, you using Tech or Smart weapons, figuring out how to go up or down stairs, prioritizing who gets to go through a door first (so they bunch up at a door and never leave), understanding that they can't shoot through walls or comprehend when a door is open or closed (a cyberpsycho stood on the other side of a closed garage door shooting at it while I killed them from the other side with a Tech title), netrunners won't use detection hacks half the time, the AI will enter broken cycles where they do things like hunker down behind cover and NEVER come out to shoot, etc. etc.

These are all ones that I've personally experienced and there are likely plenty I'm forgetting.

Even simple poo poo like them shooting cameras so you can't use them to hack with impunity are egregious oversights. It would take one hell of a patch and a complete overhaul to fix these issues.
As it stands the AI makes Fallout 4 feel like it has FEAR level AI.

In a game like this, having some kind of traffic AI is not a minor thing. It should have been one of the first things they got working in this kind of game. Jesus Christ.

It doesn't really ruin the game completely for me, but it definitely brings it down, especially when I think about why it's not in the game.

I completed a side gig against some bad guys in a bar by going to the roof and shooting through the window, from which they couldn't find me or even shoot up in retaliation. There's sometimes putting one over on the AI, which I think everybody enjoys, and then there's "this game just straight-up does not work as intended."

Our war against free speech cannot end until we silence this bronze beast!

All the missions are built around the fact that there is no car combat other than on rails sequences.
If there is car combat added later I'd assume it'd be as part of a dlc with missions that could actually use it.

I expect the regular combat AI will be patched added at some point. Hopefully the itemisation and skills will be improved.

I don't expect them to patch in more RPG stuff in the story missions or more fleshed out city systems coz that's not what the game is.
It's a cinematic action game where you travel through a pretty city backdrop to go from combat sequence to combat sequence.
