Looking forward to This Ain't Tenet: A XXX Parody.

Or am I looking backwards to it?

Just a little easter egg as well for those who subscribe to the Neil is Max theory. The logo for the opera house at the beginning of the movie has two Golden Lions facing each other in opposite directions. Max goes to Cannon Hall School. The school's logo is a Golden Lion facing left (backwards).

I will admit that i'm a dumbass and a lot of this was confusing. Hopefully because it was meant to be confusing, and maybe not even well-explained. Either way, I'm dumb.

I am 100% convinced the CIA call/response code phrase is a reference to Pattinson being in this movie.

It's just a closed temporal loop, same as Bill and Ted 1 and 2, complete with a time war, like the end of Bill and Ted 2. Only addition was that things go backwards for the person traveling the other way.

I think I kind of loved this dumb, terrible movie

Chris Nolan just needs to stop pretending and admit he’s making trash for high people. Then he could truly excel

The escalation from we need to prevent World War 3 and we have no idea how he's getting these inverted materials to actually it's the end of the world and we really know everything about inverted materials because we're an organization from the future was... abrupt.

I figured that whole time-traveling army with ATJ at the helm had been moving backwards through time until they ran into P's timeline, at which point they flipped forward for a few minutes to let him know what was up, then kept heading backwards to the confrontation at the end of the movie.

It's all taken from this historical word square thing that Nolan must have thought was really clever but then all he did was use the names for characters/organizations (some of which had barely any bearing on the plot like Arepo and Rotas, felt like he just needed to shove in the words somewhere). Shoulda worked in the diagonals, too, we could have had characters like Mr. Srnrs and Ms. Rpnpr.

No I know, and I was okay with the other palindromes, for some reason the pointless nature of Arepo in the plot has made me lol though

As another goon pointed out in this thread at some point, he wanted to incorporate "Opera," but the action scene isn't even during an opera, it's an orchestral performance at an opera house! Like, at least go full bore and make it a real opera!

Even the titular name isn't explained, they just use it as a code word a couple times!

Somebody said that the title of the movie wasn’t “explained” and as far as I can tell it’s based around it being a palindrome and the fact that both groups factions in this group are portrayed as religious zealots who base their actions on the “tenets” of their religion.

Just watched this... It was... okayish? It was confusing at parts for sure and at the end I wasn't 100% sure what was going on in the big action scene (which sucked).

Was that entire badguy army a private military army? Like an army of mercenaries? Who were defending this random patch of land in some country? And I think I missed who the good military guys were, were they just the military in general or were they TENET or were they some other branch?

Anyway, apart from the confusing mess of the last action scene I found the rest of the movie mostly decent. Just not particularly great

Badguy army was a private army funded through gold etc sent back through time (or forward through time, been a little why).

Goodguy army was a private army funded through no-idea, and who were all TENET (trained in time travel stuffs).

There’s no reason to think Sators army had time traveled in any way. The good guys were all Tenet people, half forward moving (red) and half inverted (blue).

There's a part during the final battle scene where you see a bunch of Sator soldiers inverting, I think. It's via the machine that Neil uses - after a bunch of the soldiers invert, Neil sneaks through. gently caress if I know why they bother inverting though.

They might as well have been saying Darkness/Hearts/Nobodies/X-Blade/etc... instead of inversion and temporal pincer.
