In the end, it, like most games that feature choice, was designed to minimize how player input affected what they experienced as much as possible.

Approaching 80 hours played on my V mk1, here are the things I would consider truly broken and in need of a redo:

Traffic AI
Pedestrian NPC AI
Cop/Wanted System

Those 3 things all stand out to me as “blatantly incomplete” and shipped in a more or less indefensible state for a AAA game in 2020. The cops just spawning on top of you out of thin air would have been embarrassing in 2003, in 2020 it defies description.

And these are the things that just need a QoL pass, IMO:
~After 80 hours the driving is still unequivocally the worst I’ve ever experienced in a video game and I have all the nicest cars, not a single car handles in a way that makes driving feel fun or smooth
~Buying cars needs a separate map icon
~Blueprints need a symbol to let you know if you can already make them
~let me answer phone calls in my car
~Legendary items should roll at max modslots 100% of the time, no other stat can compete with the power of mod slots
-the perk system could use a really solid pass, less to prune useless perks and more to get rid of the perks that gently caress up other perks. A lot of perks stepping on toes of other perks and the layering is pretty obviously not correct in spots
-Food should do different stuff, it feels INSANE to have 85 unique inventory items with unique art assets that do the same thing mechanically in the game.

I think the combat and itemization are basically all set and in need of only minor tweaks, but anything related to driving/cars/traffic is just unacceptably shoddy. That feels extremely fixable, to me at least. Sure I’d like to see stronger AI and more reactivity from my opponents, but I also appreciate how powerful they make me feel.

I used the .ini tweak for driving feel that someone posted earlier (I think I quoted it) and it seemed to make a big difference, I like driving a lot more now.

EnableLowVelStoppingResistance = false
EnableSmoothWheelContacts = true
ForceMoveToMaxAngularSpeed = 100.000000
ForceMoveToMaxLinearSpeed = 30.000000
ForceSimplifiedMovement = true
MaxForceMoveToTeleportThreshold = 50.000000
VelocitySmoothingTime = 0.500000
WeightTransferMode = 1

Save as Cyberpunk2077/engine/config/platform/pc/vehiclehandling.ini

It should be in the OP. It completely fixes driving. I have no complaints at all about the driving with it.

As I was laying in bed last in agony because I pulled a muscle in my back I was going over my tinfoil hat theory about what happened during development for this game and something occurred to me that I don't know the answer for regarding the Relic.

Why is Johnny's engram on the chip Yorinobu stole? It's supposed to be a prototype chip to test the technology of soul transfer for Saburo's quest for immortality right? So why is it Johhny's engram? The point of the chip is to at some point slot it into someone to see if it works and the engram takes over, right? So surely Arasaka would pick literally anyone else to bring back from the dead. They have a whole heap of engrams they have via the secure your soul programme - presumably some people they'd actually like to see walking around in the world again. So why is it Johhny fuckin' Silverhand?

My theory is that in the first version of the story (of which Act 1 and the Evelyn/Voodoo Boys parts of Act 2 are the remnants) the chip was probably a blank prototype and Yorinobu stole it as a direct action against his father's plan. Which makes a lot more sense because why the gently caress does Yorinobu want a chip with Johnny Silverhand's engram on it?

Maybe something obvious just completely eluded me?

I’m not sure if your post has been answered or not because it’s a lot of posts, but I remember in interviews/previews that came out when CDPR first revealed gameplay in 2018, was that the story was about a special chip/implant that could grant immortality.

While this is technically true, it was sold as you being hired to look for this chip, which differs a bit from where the story is now. Perhaps Silverhand was added later to the chip due to the feedback about how awesome Keanu was and wanted to work him in more.

Game really picked up at the end there. Feels like everything in between the intro missions and Chippin' In/the ending were just cobbled together. There was some really great parts and I wanna go through again to play as a totally different character. I still think Johnny was the weakest part of the story.

Upgrading is kind of a trap with how much the cost scales. Instead what you should when you pick up an iconic you like is save crafting the next tier until you are at a higher level. For example, turn it into an epic at 30, then wait until 45 or so for the legendary. Just depends on how high of a level you intend to take your character and how absurdly powerful you want the weapon to be though.

I've spent the past couple of play sessions knocking out the sidequest chains for Panam, Judy, and River. River's felt very short, Judy's had a very unexpected ending, and Panam's felt almost like a completely different game, but they were all excellent.

I suppose at some point I should go see the Voodoo Boys, and maybe find out what Takemura wants to talk to me about.

Doubtful. Silverhand's character is from 2040 and is canonically dead before the game came out. They specifically picked that as someone for Keanu... y'all are getting really really :tinfoil: with all these assumptions about what went on during development.

Its not like CDPR created Silverhand. Pondsmith wrote him. So unless the original plan was to have Keanu voice someone else entirely... I don't think any of that holds water. It makes a ton of sense to cast him as Silverhand and put him on the Chip for a lot of gameplay reasons.

Really shouldn't assume anything one way or another unless Comte comes out and says.

100%. Extremely boring.

Where Panam was actually super well done, they put effort into her romance storyline and it wasn't just the usual "you saved me lets bang" thing. She plays hard to get in a realistic way.

Thing is V is meeting everyone he knows for the first time. V apparently has no friends or family outside of the people he's bumped into during the game. V's past is basically a blank slate aside from a few little hints at the opening. Geralt had a long and detailed backstory to him. The people he hangs out with are old friends that he's known for a long time. But yeah this is far less upbeat than the Witcher series.

go med bod and med ref to get melee damage, some resist bonuses, some preem cyberware and maybe bladed weapon +dmg, then switch to cool, get knives poison (do NOT buy the ability to throw knives, it's a trap and you'll accidently throw your cool knife) and go ham on cold blooded and teleport around cutting people. I don't get why there are so many people opposed to this. I loved the part where I was sitting in a bar with Jackie getting to know him more and wished there was more of stuff like that. Jokes on me for wanting to get to know more of the characters the developers crunched to realize I guess.

Sure, that's reasonable. It's not just minigames though even though I talked about those before or what even counts as a minigame. More racing with the cars would have been cool and could be a minigame. I said gambling before, but I obviously don't mean "Please use 40 000 dev hours to implement a casino", more like, just have a blackjack table at one of the cool night clubs in the game. It's more par for the internet of course to just engage in mindless hyperbole about how SOME PEOPLE just OBVIOUSLY wanted a one to one representation of life and the world itself. They don't need to do that. Just add interactive small touches that make the world more believable.

Like the game lacks now the 3rd person animations required for player character reflections, there's no barbershops, no car modding, clothing stores are just the lovely inventory UI. Would have been swell if you could model your character while you're trying out clothes like in Watchdogs (or ... *gasp* ... GTA). All of these things add to the immersion and making the world more believable and not just a shooting gallery for the biggest cyberpsycho in the universe.

And all of these suggestions are probably just piss in the wind because they probably had plans for a lot of that kind of stuff but were just forced to cut because of the rushed release.
