I dunno which is the bigger when it comes to the thedonald.win idiots losing their hotel reservations: the dipshits who legitimately couldn't conceive of besieging the nation's capital without having a nice comfy hotel to sleep in; or the dumbasses who keep typing "WE NEED TO BE IN WAR MODE BRING TENTS OR SLEEP IN YOUR CARS" without realizing that many of their fellow pedes would literally perish if they had to spend a single night without the creature comforts of home, to say nothing of having to sleep in a tent during winter in Washington, D.C. or accidentally gassing themselves to death in their running cars

Dead industries like "agriculture" and the non-farmers that work within the economies that are driven by agriculture. I mean, there are a hell of a lot less farmers these days because of the increase in massive industrial operations and the increased efficiency they bring. But that's already basically fueling the "collapse" in a way that doesn't require direct animus aimed at the people who are in the process of moving towards more urban environments (where hopefully they'll be exposed to people who are different than they are and will in theory come to be less awful). That said, gently caress there are a lot of fuckers still in the boonies. The Strangest Finch fucked around with this message at 03:52 on Dec 29, 2020 |

That's basically true for a lot of the corn production and basically all of the Beef production. It doesn't touch the vast majority of the rest of what is grown in the country. The united states has probably the biggest breadbasket in the entire world. It is also probably being mismanaged with lovely incentives, but the sheer amount of food the country produces can't really be ignored. (For the record I basically agree with you, ag in the US isn't nearly what it could be with saner subsidies, but if you're feeling curious sometime check out the USDA's cropscape maps, it is loving staggering what the potential agricultural output of the US is.) feelix posted:I've never heard a right-winger bitch about farm subsidies? I constantly saw him reply to replies on articles posted on Facebook that were complaining about government overspending. Like, the articles themselves weren't about farm subsidies specifically, but there'd always be people in the comments going, "Yeah, gently caress all this spending, and gently caress farm subsidies too! If they're meant to fail, they're meant to fail!" and he'd rush in there to argue about why that shouldn't be the case. E: This dude had some scorching hot takes, lemme tell you. Batterypowered7 posted:So when's the veto override vote supposed to happen that Bernie threatened to derail if McConnell doesn't bring up the $2000 bill up for vote? CNN says if Bernie delays it, the veto override vote won't happen until Friday. So if that's correct, and Bernie can't delay it indefinitely, but only until Friday, I don't think that's so long for McConnell - he'll likely wait it out until Friday. It will piss a lot of Senators off, because they planned on being home this week, but, y'know, who gives a poo poo? I don't see McConnell bringing the $2000 bill to the Senate floor if he can just wait until Friday instead. He does NOT want GOP senators - especially the two Georgia senators - taking a vote on that, because they will vote "No," and that may complicate things for the GA Special Elections and may even stick to some senators up for re-election in 2022.
