I am playing through this now and I must be a total mark because a) I like Ava and the bits of story they scatter around. b) I don't mind paying for a season pass because it adds more content. I have been having a total blast with this game over the last week and I think Ava was pretty ok. Tina still annoys the bejesus out of me but that was to be expected. The jokes and references they scattered around actually made me laugh in a few parts as opposed to BL2 which made me wince often.

From Steam reviews to a few posts on here, I see a lot of very strident opinions saying things like "Season Pass 2 is overpriced and a money grab. gently caress these devs!". I am fine with folks saying "I don't want to pay $30 for something. it's not worth it TO ME" but saying it shouldn't exist or be $5 or free seems strange to me when there is no way of knowing how much it costs to do the work and, ultimately, what 2k thinks people will pay. I guess this is the internet though so I shouldn't be super surprised that everyone wants things free. I do often find myself curious what a Season Pass that passed the muster of the "this isn't worth it" crowd would look like.

Do you happen to enjoy the television sitcom called "The Big Bang Theory" by any chance?

Sometimes there are good season passes (like BL 2) and sometimes there are bad season passes (like most everything call of duty ever release)

And then there are complete poo poo season passes that transcend all opinions and is just universally wrong.

What they put in the season pass 2 shouldn't even be in season pass 1. It should be in the base game. It's not DLC content. It's just a patch.

Haven't seen that show either but I hear it gets good after a few seasons.

I am surprised by how long this game is. Been playing for quite a while and still unlocking vaults. I also tried a few of those Arms Race things solo and feel like its something I am going to do a bunch once I finish the story. I don't know what this game's end-game is going to be like but I am still engaged by the story which I'm shocked by. I broke out laughing when the ICE-T-voiced character made their appearance.

Good game.

Cowabunga!
Got this game during the winter sale and just finished the story with a FL4K Fade Away build. Found a Hellwalker at level 13 (125x10 damage w/ + critical damage %) that I continued to use all the way through the end of the story which made most of it pretty trivial. Only now am I starting to find other shotguns that have comparable damage to this thing and it's still one shotting trash and handling badasses in a Fade Away. Is the Hellwalker just super OP or...?

Anyway, despite the terrible menus and somewhat meh story, the game was still a lot of fun. The new mechanics (primarily slide & climb) felt great. My question is, "what now?" I'm currently sitting at level 36. I skipped almost all the side quests, so I could start with those, but IIRC from BL2 it's better to wait until level 50 for those that have unique rewards in order to maximize the item level. Should I turn on Mayhem levels now, or wait until 50? I've read some advice to leave Mayhem off and just do certain boss/area runs until 50 before worrying about Mayhem. When should I start TVHM? Is all the advice I'm reading w.r.t level 50 now changed to level 65 (even w/ no DLC and in normal mode)? Grinding all the way to 65 as opposed to 50 before really doing anything else seems like it would be quite tedious.

Slaughter Shaft or Slaughterstar 5000 is probably gonna be the quickest way to do that, and they're honestly some of the more fun endgame activities.

First time playing Borderlands 3, still making my way through the main storyline, but I heard/read up on that mayhem thing that you can trigger afterwards and I've been wondering: is it feasible to take Eridian Fabricator, crank it up to let's say mayhem 6 (doubt I'd want 10 since it sounds like crazy difficulty, but 6 sounds interesting due to some legendaries being locked behind it), then make Fabricator cough up some decentish guns and go from there? Or will the fact that I won't be at level cap yet and general unfamiliarity with what mayhem brings make me super dead. Also is it true that gold chest rewards don't get mayhem scaling?

hello i am dumb on two things (on pc): the weapon damage type swap hotkey never works for me, and how do i use grenades as zane when his second action skill uses the same key (rebinding doesnt seem to fix this)

Not being able to use grenades directly is the price you pay for having a second action skill equipped

He has some skills that will auto use them though, which can be relevant for activating effects

The Fabricator, while really funny and neat, actually kind of sucks at dropping good loot.

I just finished all of the season 1 DLC content ( I needed a break after 180+ hours of CP2077and I normally like to buy the DLC expansions after they've all come out ) and I gotta say Hellwalker is still my go to for killing absolutely everything for my Fl4k Fade Away build, even at level 65 at Mayhem 8 - no other weapon comes close, even against armoured and shielded types ( actually not entirely true, Lucian's Call is kinda handy because you will run out of shotgun shells before you run out of AR ammo, but the damage is still bleh ). I will also say that Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck was downright miserable at Mayhem 8, even with my Hellwalker.

I mostly played at Mayhem level 6 because it unlocked the Legendaries but didn't turn everything into a total bullet-sponge. I also started using a save editor because I hate bullet sponges and could just edit my gear up as needed.

Some of the late-game balance is totally hosed. Vehicles in particular become glass cannons except for the cannon part - their damage drops off spectacularly while they become totally fragile. I got in the habit of jumping out of my vehicle, one or two-shotting whatever enemy was around, then hopping back in. Otherwise the vehicle won't survive the encounter and I'd be stuck hoofing it across a huge map.

So I'm a little confused with Fl4k's skill trees and pets so I'm going to have to ask a dumb question. Are the trees only applicable to the pets that are at the top of the trees in the menu? For instance: Can I use the Master skill tree and have it's effects in use while using the Spiderant? Again, dumb question but I appreciate any help; thank you.

edit: What I'm trying to get at is I want to build the Master skill tree and use my Spiderant. Will the effects of the Master tree be in use while I have the Spiderant pet in use?

You get the skill duct tape mod, and randomly shoot your equipped grenade when you fire your gun, also makes you immune to your own grenade damage. Much better than simply tossing them.

Yes. Skills will apply to anything they reference, regardless of what tree they are in, so pet skills work for any/every pet.

To build on the previous answer, you don't! You can either only equip one action skill or give up the ability to sling grenades. Duct Tape Mod had been mentioned, you can also get a skill that makes the Clone throw a grenade for you, and one for the drive to periodically drop one.

There's something like 8 or 10 special targets spread across all the maps, that marker is just an indicator that one of those targets is on the level- if you haven't found it yet, you missed a spot on the map.
