Dude has been a libertarian forever, and those types that I know loving hate Trump with a passion vs the "libertarians" who are republicans sick of being called out so they can be smarmy and say they're not. I like a ton of Iced Earth stuff, but this dude is a loving moron to have done that. Have fun in jail for the rest of your life. Goddamn.

If he pardons himself for treason, that means he’s acknowledging he committed treason which should preclude him from holding office so he won’t do that one. Remember a pardon is not an acquittal.

Corporate and tech authoritarians are playing a dangerous game. They're putting all their chips on the US becoming a system of economic oligarchs like Russia as opposed to a system of political oligarchs like China where fing Jack Ma has to hide after saying the wrong thing. Do they really have it so bad now? Are tech millionaires so financially illiterate and gullible they believe the memes about "an average family will work more than 50% of their work week just to pay taxes"?

Pardoning oneself is even one of those untested things where no one's really sure if he can do that because it's never been done before so lol if he admits to treason so he can pardon himself for it and then it doesn't even work

It's not likely that he can pardon himself. But just watch Biden pardon him on day 1.

I'm an idiot but I was under the impression it's not possible for a president to pardon himself because a pardon sets aside a punishment and not a crime? So, in order for a president to face a punishment he would already have been convicted of a crime which happens through impeachment which also would remove him as president.

Like, at a certain point when you are massively outnumbered and under geared what are you going to do other than give up? Like, if they all went down swinging the end result would have been exactly the same, except they'd all be dead or in the hospital. I also feel for the lone, black cop trying to fend off an angry mob at the front door. The dude tried and ran off when he realized he was about to get murdered. The blame lies on the people in charge who thought "black protestors? Better use a show of great force" "white protestors, lets deploy like 30 cops in windbreakers. it'll be fine" gently caress any cop that just treated terrorists like they just got a off a theme park ride in the end though. Taking selfies, escorting people who should have been arrested to safely be on their way. fire every one of them.

Libertarians are republicans who think they’re smart. They lean on words like “reason” and say “for the sake of argument” and “devil’s advocate” a lot and are infinitely more pleased with being technically correct than being correct in any other way. They like “hard truths” and “reality” but only in ways that piss off the people they’re arguing with. If you’re a libertarian, you’re infinitely more likely to be a white middle class (or high) male who truly thinks they are not the product of any amount of support from anyone ever. Real libertarians are people who are completely off the grid and, importantly, loving crazy. Otherwise they’re just dumb fat republicans who think extra highly of themselves. They also really like weed. The only smart republicans are the ones who are donating and supporting both parties to make sure their agenda is enacted, and evil/accomplished people like Mitch who knows he’s playing a losing game.

Honestly if he was smart he'd issue a blanket pardon for any crime that may have been committed at the Capitol yesterday. Send the signal to his thugs that he's got their back and give them a free hand to do anything. It's the only path to hanging onto power that he has left and if it fails he'll likely not face any serious consequences for it. What people will hate him more?
