It's a little disconcerting that it wasn't locked from lack of use. I mean govt computers are probably on a short timer, they must have just barely gotten out of that office.

Government computers are supposed to require a physical card to unlock, and when the card is pulled out of its slot the machine automatically locks again.

Just tie the security card to your boomer's collar (or a belt loop or purse...) and they physically can't leave the machine without locking it.

I'm pretty sure that's only specific to certain agencies, none of the places I worked automatically logged you out of the system when you removed the card.
