If you need a trolley every time, but a trolley isn’t always made available, wouldn’t it be time to invest in a trolley?

Yes, gently caress over the underpaid delivery driver for not doing your backbreaking work for you instead of having staff on hand to help you unload and buying a loving hundred dollar dolly from Staples. Just because some drivers volunteer to help, it doesn't mean others have that obligation or are bad people for not doing so. I will never understand this bullshit of wanting to make other workers' lives worse instead of fighting to improve your own lovely situation.

You're the one making up the contractually obligated bit. The driver did the job they were paid to do. OP is the GM and choosing to work an extra 20 hours a week for free instead of paying their employees to work those hours, while claiming to care about their wellbeing. They have now decided to steal labour from a different company altogether instead of paying their own employees and/or purchasing the equipment to make it easier to do the work themselves that they refuse to pay a person to do. By all means keep patting yourself on the back for making life worse for the drivers at that company instead of standing up for yourself and your own workers, aginor.

Just because some drivers volunteer to help, it doesn't mean others have that obligation or are bad people for not doing so. Don't think you got my comment, mate. Fact of the matter is, it's within their contract to place the stock where we need it. We put it away from there. It's backbreaking manual labour for everyone but we help each other out generally. Most of the time I'm giving them a coffee and having a smoke after all the hard yakka is done. Labour budgets don't afford me the luxury of having a chain gang of staff to take in deliveries. Labour budgets don't afford me to hire staff. But instead of saying, "My contracted hours is 45, you kitchen guys do 60 hours a week because you're paid per hour", I do the extras so I can staff up on the days I need off and nobody does more then they're willing or able to do. Me doing things like this meant I could prevent a transfer's job from being stopped and I could get her on the books and pay her something so she wouldn't go without during this lockdown. 9 hours pay for a 2 hour day because I can pick up the slack. I don't think I'm making anyone else's life difficult to improve my own lovely situation. I've made my management bed and I will sleep in it. Edit: also the drivers are on similar money to me. £30k-£36k Aginor fucked around with this message at 19:25 on Jan 13, 2021 |

Like the OJ Simpson "prank" show. My favorite schad relating to Netflix (from Wikipedia): "In 2000, when Netflix had just about 300,000 subscribers and relied on the US Postal Service for the delivery of their DVDs, their losses would total $57 million and offered to be acquired by Blockbuster for $50 million. They proposed that Netflix, which would be renamed as Blockbuster.com, would handle the online business, while Blockbuster would take care of the DVDs, making them less dependent on the US Postal Service. The offer was declined."

It doesn’t work that way, at least in precedent. People can be pardoned for vague, uncharged offenses. Entire groups can be pardoned. We’re in uncharted waters and it’s possible that the Supreme Court say “actually, you can’t foment a coup on another branch of government and pardon everyone involved”. But it won’t be on the technicality that charges have not yet been filed.

There's more involved then standing firm. My restaurant was a problem restaurant when I took over it and only turned the corner prior to the initial lockdown. They've closed over 100 of our restaurants during all this upheaval and I'm going to do what it takes it keep it open and keep the staff in work considering that the city I live in is sparse on jobs. If it were to close then I could gently caress off anywhere I want. My staff and their families don't have that luxury.
