Bernie would've had massive changes to who actually comes out to vote, which is how you win elections since swing voters that change their mind aren't real.

He also would've dealt with a Perot-esque run from Bloomberg and a media blackout so who knows.

i mean you say that but the primary doesn't really instill a lot of confidence in that. idk how you break people out of the concept that voting is worthless because the government doesnt do poo poo for you.

I'd love to believe that Bernie would have gotten tons of votes if he actually won the primary but honestly I'm not convinced. I still want to believe that Americans would eventually like universal healthcare but people's brains are so poisoned against "socialism" that I think that it would probably take like 10+ years for people to finally accept it.

If you just look at SA it seems like Bernie had much more momentum and it's easy to imagine that all Americans think the same way, but that probably isn't actually the case.

Republicans pretty much hate all democrats equally now. The problem is more that a lot of democrats also hate Hillary.

I did a bunch of phone calling for Bernie and I don't regret a second of it. he was the best candidate and stood a real chance of winning. arguing about whether he would have won or not is useless because that battle is over, though.

had trump run against a social democrat then their messages would've competed a bit in that regard, and the dems could've siphoned off some of the more moderate trump voters. as we had it, it was populist scammer vs. career oligarch, and consequently the former won.

I don’t disagree, but it also seems like there’s plenty of evidence to show most people follow a party and subscribe to the values of that party, not the other way around, and I don’t think it’s necessarily true to say chuds gonna chud, it’s just that they were raised in america where they’ve been fed that poo poo by their party for decades and it’s now who they are.

as it turns out, I personally could do a better job running for pres. I know the right words to say etc

Surprised this isn't obvious to more people. Isn't that kind of the whole idea of a political leader - to lead the people and shape their beliefs?

Chuds don't happen in a vacuum. Somebody told them that they need to stock up on guns, or else lose their way of life. Somebody else told them that democrats are the enemy who hate Jesus. And also that they should love Jesus.

Humans as a species are tribe animals that follow leaders, it's not the other way around and it never has been.

Hot take: 99% of us aren't in line for the iron throne. We're the chattel with zero control over our leaders.

there are tons of surveys that show broad support for socialist policies when they're pitched neutrally and not when you use the S word, i.e. "do you agree that the government should ensure everyone who needs medical care gets it" vs "do you support socialized medicine"
