If you fail to score here, the game is over. Flat out. Kicking brings it back within 5. You have 3 timeouts plus the 2 min warning, and 5 points means all you need is the TD to win

The only thing kicking there does is save you from trying the 2 point conversion.

You have to make a stop no matter what.
