baba is you & environmental station alpha guy posts on SA still some more demos going up today: Action: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1280300/Steel_Assault/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_1 - The SNES style sidescrolling action game that's been getting a bit of attention lately (I think it was in a Nintendo Indie World showcase maybe?) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1170060/Boomerang_X/ - New Devolver game, first person boomerang slicing action https://store.steampowered.com/app/1459960/Glitchpunk/ - from Daedalic, top down cyberpunk action game, seems like it's maybe inspired by GTA1 https://store.steampowered.com/app/1069530/Narita_Boy/ - Hack & Slash metroidvania. ok, the steam indie festival went live! hopefully the games i pointed out above are neat, some of them don't really show up on the front pages of the different categories. VR is a bit barren this year, and puzzle doesn't have a ton of games. but plenty of action games and adventure/story games in this batch. there are of course returning demos: chicory, linked mask, jack axe, i'm sure garden story is back. in case you missed them the first time The 7th Guest fucked around with this message at 19:35 on Feb 3, 2021 |

I think you might be able to access them after, i was able to do it with a couple of demos last time. also, some devs keep their demos up after the festival, but the majority are time-limited

So has anyone noticed the launch of Wobbledogs? I remember first seeing this as a weird tweet a few years ago, and I guess it's by someone who worked on Sims 4 previously. It's the first "serious" foray back into the realm of virtual pets I've seen in almost 20 years probably, and there's not a great deal to it insofar but the nutrition-based mutation mechanics are pretty entertaining, and it seems there's a number of odd things the dogs can get up to autonomously, such as constructing dirt burrows. They have to pupate pretty regularly and only have a life expectancy of ~1 hour, so it definitely seems geared towards playing with the mutations. The dog egg simulation matrix is pretty fun too.

FutureCop posted:As long as I download these demos, do they stay? Or are they limited and they disappear after awhile? Festival limited demos will redirect you to purchase the game if available when you attempt to play it once the festival is over, and there's no way of knowing which ones will do this. I also want to recommend Exo One from previous festivals, I've played the demo 3 or 4 times and I'm aching for more. I'm starting to get sort of unchuffed over it not being out yet. https://store.steampowered.com/app/773370/Exo_One/

Tried Loop Hero and it's pretty fun! You do everything but directly control your hero who wanders the same loop while you stack different tiles in different arrangements to affect the board, equip items the hero collects. The initial tiles you can generate come from a deck you build. There's also a camp/town building mechanic that unlocks bonuses and new cards as you gather resources from your hero's expeditions, with the ultimate goal of your hero surviving long enough to summon the boss of the stage and killing him. Part of the fun comes in figuring out how different tiles interact with each other that the game doesn't explicitly tell you about, like putting boulders/mountains in a 3x3 pattern turns all of them into a mountain peak that gives your hero a big boost to HP and sends harpies down to the path. Looks like the final game will have a lot of buildings to unlock and several different heroes to play, and quite a few levels.
