How important EHP is if increasing it does not affect the maximum hit you can take? Like Aspect of Stone anoint would increase EHP by 26% but the maximum hit I can take stays the same (22k). Thanks.

Not sure what I should be looking for). Same for boots, just been looking for high move speed, resists and life. Also feel like my jewelry is not that good. Just found the Volley Fire jewel but not sure if it's actually better than others I was using previously since I'm using it as single target. I'm not doing much crafting or trading (just buying cheap poo poo from the build, not really selling) so if there's something decent that would be a big upgrade, please by all means shed some light.

your warlord's mark isn't proccing b/c cast on crit is connected to two spells and no attacks. Your build is reliant on that leech, so you'll want to find another way to get the curse on enemies. Best way is probably going to be getting a ring that applies it on attacks. something like one of these: https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Ritual/prlEMbet0

Since that set of gems isn't doing anything for you anyway, I'd change it to a CWDT setup with steelskin or whatever flavor of damage mitigation you want on there.

So does that mean the other skills in my gloves aren't doing anything either since they're spells? Sweet.

There have to be better bows than windripper. Windripper is basically a meme bow for people stacking item quantity.

To expand on the cast on critical mention: cast on critical only triggers when a supported skill deals a crit. So if you want to use it you would link it with another copy of barrage so you have a button that does no damage but applies those debuffs.

Looking at that guide the reason for the (pretty bad) shroud of the lightless is that the build STACKS abyss jewels. If you're not stacking tons and tons of abyss jewels you're not getting the flat added damage to make windripper deal damage and you're not getting the pile of life to make up for such low life items.

Your boots also have dead supports because herald of ash is not an attack skill and inspiration only lowers mana costs, not reservation. Enlighten support is the only support gem that lowers mana reservation.

That's all I've got while phone posting at work. One tip is when you hover a support gem in your inventory it pops a list of your equipped active gems and gives a check or an x to show if they can support that gem. All gems have tags like spell, attack, bow, etc. And all supports tell you what types of gems they support.

Speaking of exalts, I feel like I have to quit this league because Divergent Determination is the single most important thing I need for my aurabot and they're 11 ex when they were 3 last league (before they were nerfed 80%). One bit of low-hanging fruit: Fix your flasks. You should only have one life flask, probably a Seething/Panicked Divine Life Flask of Staunching. Replace your other life flask with an Experimenter's Diamond Flask of Warding. Pro move would be to balance your resists and get a Wise Oak, but that's super not-important right now. Also consider keeping an Amethyst Flask of Curing in reserve for when poison heavy mobs will be prevalent.

Yeah this is the sad truth here. Note the part where the guy said his current gear is a 50ex investment. It doesn't even look very good for 50ex.

Honestly your best bet is to scrap it and start over. You can get a bunch of cheap stuff that makes levelling a breeze (tabula, goldrim) and get a new character to maps in like a day or two.

I'd suggest picking something not ranger because rangers always fall into two categories : completely reliant on avoidance so eventually your luck runs out and you splat, or is a Pathfinder so you spend the entire game jamming your flask buttons and then your hand falls off.

Yeah this cons list made me laugh:

quote:

-Expensive to min-max (my investment was around 50 EX)
-squishy, super hard to reach 6k life. Mostly dodge and Warlord's Mark to survive. But does fine in end-game.

And then also the big red text disclaimer that actually all builds are bad at bossing now.

it would be nice to choose a league starter that can get completion on red maps without having to worry about reflect, or be able to run unIDed maps on a wider variety of builds. more build options = more better, and the benefit of reflect maps is .....some item quant? seems flimsy

pretty much every single aspect of PoE content is designed around the principle that higher risk = higher reward. a mirror to this is that player choice can reduce meaningful risks. having reflect damage be a real danger that some builds can circumvent is what actually opens up build options. picking an elementalist or dot or chaos build that can ignore reflect damage is a meaningful player build choice. if nobody has to worry about reflect damage then it nobody is thinking about it and making choices about it. players who choose to play builds vulnerable to reflect can simply avail themselves of the many methods to deal with reflect damage, such as itemization, rerolling maps, or watchstones.

Her missions do benefit from the watchstones and passives that give more map choices. You can get something crazy like 20 map choices per mission, and get a lot of missions fast. Some people were doing Vaults of Atziri rotas just to bank up extra zana missions as its the fastest map to complete.

Thanks for the advice everybody. This is already my 2nd dude this league after starting SSF and not using a guide :v: so I don't really want to do all that poo poo again. I hate doing the campaign and though it did go faster the 2nd time, it still sucks. I wanted to be a shooty bow man but not jam the keys for flasks every 5 seconds. Feels real bad.

If I do decide to start over, what's a good and cheap build for a newish player? I kinda like the idea of a cyclone build or something else that can do damage while moving.

If you want a ranger, then toxic rain pathfinder works quite well.

I'm running into similar survivability issues with rangers, though. I'm level 87 for my Ice Spear deadeye and the damage is fine, but I'm only on 4k life 48% evasion/43% dodge and a mistwall, so I'm going splat easily in t12/t13 maps if I'm off the ball for a moment.

Pastebin here - resists aren't max because I'm upgrading gear at the moment, but that's not the issue.

I just had an amazing trade interaction. I was selling a gem for 1 exalt, and a guy messaged me asking me to take the 80 chaos instead. Current rate is 97 chaos, plus my gem was the cheapest on the market (by about .3 exalt) because I'm trying to make some fast cash for upgrades.

I told him I needed the exalt, and invited him, assuming he would come if he had the exalt to pay. He tells me 'buy it'. I leave my map, not optimistic, and sure enough he tries to give me 80 chaos. So I cancel, kick him, and head back to my map.

He begins messaging me in Portuguese, and I just got a chance to translate it:
