Yeah... I tried doing an ice storm build for solo play and wasn’t really impressed. Sure it killed grunts faster but... so what? If I wanted to kill things fast I’d use fire.

You don’t need shatter and cold radiance makes up the difference in freezing power somewhat. I really like it, but I have more fun with sticky flames. My third build is PTC and I don’t find it as satisfying as either of the above.

1) apparently something reset my preferences so the profanity filter was on. ok, no big deal.

2) also apparently: "who're" is a slur which i guess makes sense now that i take a minute to look at it but also lmfao

... Are you Angry Diplomat? I only noticed the avatar and title when I clicked the quote button, and now I'm curious.

But for actual content, about 4/5ths of the OCs and cosmetics I've gained have been for the Driller, which is the only class I've not touched at all since I started playing. Out of the rest, half are for Engineer, which I've put 3 total levels into, and then the rest are split between Scout and Gunner, both of whom I've promoted once each.

doesn't the first 'intro to overclocks' quest you get after promoting your first class give you overclocks just for that class? that's what happened for me anyways.

yup, yup. to be honest it's just as impractical my way because i think even losing out on 50% damage two barrels from the super shotgun will shatter a praetorian just fine but i admit it's been a long time since the circumstance has come up (been playing mostly engineer these days)

It's better than Facemelter on the flamer and doesn't need to reload. Cold radiance is what lets it freeze a swarm despite tanking freezing power for damage.

My personal favourite cryo gimmick is max out ammo and use the snowball overclock to do the heavy lifting. It will freeze a praetorian or bring down a group of mactera in one shot, scouts can only wish they had that quantity of popsicle power.

New hotfix, this is about Escort missions:

"- Lowered enemy aggression towards Doretta a bit to compensate for the previous AI fix that made them more effective."

So it seems the higher damage numbers was just an indirect consequence of fixing AI pathing/bugs, the real damage per attack was the same.

glitch. join a mission as engie with PGL, any non-fat boy OC (note: i wonder if compact shells would make this even better?). once you're in the game Leave Team, equip Fat Boy, and rejoin the same mission

It only works the once, you won't be able to gain ammo 'til you're back below 4+1, but that's still a pretty good hoot imo

(e) i only tried this with hyperpropellant as the non-fatboy, so possibly it's specific to that

(e) i've always assumed GSG doesn't care much about exploits or whatever, but idk for sure, so caveat emptor

Just started playing, got an Engi up to level 14 and I gotta say I am enjoying the game a lot. I think the next character I will level when I get the Engi to 25 is the driller. They seem to really make life SO much easier for everyone.

Quick question, in a lot of videos I see people using "over clocks" or something like that for their weapon. How do I get those? Are they random drops or can I work for some?

Also, Rock and Stone

As others have said, you can start getting them after promoting your first dwarf and being able to mess with the 'cores' systems. After that any of your dwarfs can participate, even un-promoted ones. They are almost entirely random, you can't really work towards any specific one other than hoping for it.

Cores come from three sources: a weekly assignment which gives you a blank core an overclock core and a cosmetic core, from the weekly deep-dives and elite deep-dives (Back-to-back missions that share nitra, get progressively harder, and don't support drop-in), which offer the same, and from converting blank cores from completing in-map machine events, which give you the choice between three random options, letting you know for what class and whether it'll be cosmetic or an overclock, so is the only way to kinda fudge things towards getting a specific one.

Non-blank cores can then be converted to whatever they are in the forge on the space-rig for a variable credit and resource cost depending what it is; cosmetics are usually more expensive.

As a new player your second highest priority, after just enjoying the game, should be to get your first promotion, because it does unlock a fair bit of content. After the first promotion for each dwarf, as it does unlock an extra perk slot for them, it's only e-peen size though.

Yup, I am cruising along to 25. Don't want to burn myself out face grinding the XP. Unfortunate that it is RNG based. Can you get duplicates?

The cores do, however, flow at a set rate though. Usually you can get a max of 3 blank, 3 weapon, and 3 cosmetic cores a week. And the blanks can be used in Machine Events to get either weapon OCs or cosmetics, they give you a choice of three random cores and you don't know exactly what you're getting until you make the final selection. You just see "Engineer Weapon OC vs Gunner Cosmetic vs Driller Weapon OC".

RyokoTK
Feb 12, 2012

I am cool.
If you forge every overclock you receive you end up with approximately 11 cores per week, since you get a freebie for every 5 forges.

The fastest you can get every weapon overclock is around 14 weeks.
