Why do Gen X get lumped in with the boomers? I guess there's a big divide between older Gen Xers and younger Gen Xers (who are now in their late 30s and early 40s), but most Gen Xers have been having less children and having them later in life too.

The youngest Gen Xers are in their forties now according to most definitions. I only know this because I’m right around that cut off and can see a generational division between those a few years older than I am and those a few years younger. Generally the younger ones are significantly poorer and laugh when their parents ask when they’re going to buy a house or have kids.
