The Rangers are just a terrible matchup for the Caps. When they aren’t skating circles around Washington they’re blocking a million shots like tonight.

Also lol the Capitals went 7-0 when Wilson was suspended and immediately lose when he comes back.

21 games for Mario, good lord. Made me go look up Gretzky's 200-point seasons to see if he had anything similar, he scored 8 points in his 21st game of 1983-84 to get to 60.

It's like Barry Bonds on baseball-reference, you just load up the page and let your jaw hang for a little while. His shooting percentage in 83-84 was 26.7%! He played 234 regular season games from 83-84 to 85-86 and was pointless in 11 of them!

All the FOX Sports RSNs rebrand to Bally Sports (region) on March 31st, which sounds infinitely cheaper.

NBC, at this point, is still considered the favorite to land the B package. With the network’s 10-year deal as the exclusive national rights holder in the United States expiring, NBC balked at A package prices that ESPN eventually paid. But the network is still believed to have an interest in the NHL and “both NHL and NBC are very attached to that marquee Jan. 1 event” in the Winter Classic, a source told The Athletic.

https://theathletic.com/2457461/2021/03/20/nhl-eyes-200-million-deal-for-remaining-broadcast-rights-plus-nathan-mackinnon-cereal-and-more/

I wonder why NBC turned their nose up at the A package but, then again, this is the network which is still in love with an event which lost most of its luster years ago. They've always struck me as a network with an extremely high self-perception willing to grudgingly take on properties if they lose out on something they'd rather have (see NASCAR in 2001 when they lost the NFL).

People always say that but all the other 80's players had access to the same goaltending and only Lemieux and Gretzky did what they did.

McDavid is still insanely good though. It sucks that we won't see a full 82 game season to see what he could do. That's my one regret with Crosby is that he got hurt when he had that crazy season going where he was on pace for like 60/60. I dunno if he woulda got there (probably not) but that concussion robbed him of what would likely have been the best regular season he would have put up. I hope McDavid has more video game seasons in him and that we're not gonna be asking what if with this season.

Leafs put Travis Boyd on waivers, he’s a pretty good fourth liner.

Optimistic take is that this is clearing space for a trade, boring take is that they’re looking for him to clear so they can do the yo-yo cap space thing, pessimistic is that now the team is healthy for the first time in weeks he’s asked to go someplace he can play.

I think he's got a lot of years of very high level hockey in him...he's so so so drat good when he's on, but somehow something manages to happen to him every year that messes up his season a bit. I don't think it's a particularly tough decision, and I don't think the "something happens to him every year" is quite true. He may very well wind up with excellent numbers this year after a terrible start - last year, despite injuries, we all know how good he was. And the previous season he was great as well. The Rangers have serious need at center and Zibanejad is a monster when he's on his game.
