hello bonjour, en francais we call the bread man l'homme de pain, because pain means bread and we're going to see a lot of pain this year and every nyrfan is looking forward to it and hey tony, can you wait until after my postgame interview to get on your phone? i thought you quit twitter...

Morin also instigated this fight in the last few minutes of the game, and the refs gave him an extra 2 for cross checking instead of an instigator, which would've carried an automatic 1-game suspension for Saturday's game against the Rangers.

Lemieux is an idiot for taking the fight, though.

Another cap flexibility move, but looking at CapFriendly, Stralman is making $5.5 mil, has another year after this and is 34, woof.

He also is pretty bad this year, especially when paired with Yandle. Not surprising he got the Brett Connolly treatment.

It's too bad for Flyers fans that they don't play Ottawa this year. They may have had a new coach and gotten a little bounce in their game this year.

I honestly expected better from them the way they started the season.

Is he...saying they're struggling because of COVID but then saying "it's not an excuse!"

maybe they're struggling because he can't loving coach D to save his job and has always relied on amazing goaltenders to cover that up?

I mean seriously this is the poo poo Rangers fans complained about when he was at the end of his tenure here. His teams play like poo poo in the defensive zone. I dunno what it is or what he's trying to get them to do, I *think* he has some idea of how playing that way can lead to quick transitions up the ice and scoring off the rush which he loves to have his teams do, but like...the Rangers sucked defending in front of their own net while he was coach and they just got worse the longer he was there.

Part of me likes AV's tenure with the Rangers since it was overall successful but he kind of has this one trick to do well for a couple of season with the right pieces in place and then it falls apart because it's not a viable long term coaching strategy and he won't change it

Staal was a disappointment but I can’t blame him specifically, the whole organization is a dumpster fire right now. All the players regressed and underperformed. I just hope they don’t get totally hosed on the trade.

Staal's relative Corsi numbers are quite good despite playing on on historically bad team and this is a weird Covid year. He was very good as recently as last season, and I think he might surprise people and have a nice second half.

Staal isn’t bad, the Sabres organization is a black hole that sucks the life and talent out of people.

That’s not a bad return considering how lovely the Sabres depth is and retaining salary is basically meaningless to them at this point.

I feel like both Holloway and Caufield should be on their way to Edmonton and Montreal respectively (especially since they'd be able to play this last month or so of games), but I guess we'll see.

I think with the 7 day window vs 14 its more likely that Holloway ends up in Bakersfield for a few weeks.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. Minnesota got the raw end of that trade maybe with Johansson costing more and being about the same or worse than Staal would have been. The difference being that Johansson is a faster skater (and younger).

Staal should be able to help with a run at the semi-finals at least.
