It sounds pretty good man! That's like my dream birthday except I'm 34 now. If you're still sweating it, I sure don't remember my second birthday so I wouldn't worry too much about it long term.

So our “area” of payroll runs payroll for probably 30,000+ employees across the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Guam part of countless Unions. When I started last April, I knew they were in the middle of a large project to get all of us onto the same modern payroll platform instead of multiple different ancient ones. What none of us knew back then was how badly upper management and the project leaders were royally loving it up.

The last two months or so we’ve been on countless “training” calls that literally all focused on one singular aspect, over and over again while everyone is going “Okay cool when are we going to learn literally everything else?” My team members have emailed management several times asking what everyone’s roles are going to be and when we are going to learn how to do them. Two weeks ago the head of our division suddenly announced her retirement effective next week. Monday we go live on a platform no one knows how to use or what they are supposed to be doing on it. Yesterday they announced layoffs of all payroll offices outside of our corporate HQ (where I am at thank Christ). My team forced our manager and her manager onto a call with us this afternoon and they tried to skate out quickly but I called them on it. I asked them how in the world have they been working on this project for so long and we’re going to be going live in three days and they can’t tell a single person what they are going to be doing? She basically started freaking out and you could tell she was trying not to cry while she spilled the beans about how horribly this was implemented and no one knows what’s going on. It’s pretty obvious now someone’s little project failed and they placed out to let the blame drop at someone else’s feet. Thousands of people are probably not going to get paid and Unions are going to bend our company right the gently caress over lol.

I guess it's just sitting weird with me.

I just realized that I have a lot of relationship problems and an inability to give myself completely to a romantic relationship because I can't trust women because of childhood mommy daddy issues.

Also I'm pretty lonely because all of my friends have moved out of Atlanta over the past few months.

The most bugshit insane part of this is that they won't accept a federally issued piece of identification that literally every other country on the planet accepts as valid identification to prove you're the same person they've been licensing for the last 4 decades.

So my passport, which outranks a drivers license, can't be used to get a drivers license that still is outranked by the same passport (that will work just fine for this "Real ID to fly domestically" bullshit.)

The home theater thing is tough. I wandered into one of the subforums here. I googled around a bit and it seemed like everyone was basically making it out that you would be a scrub to spend any less than ten grand on a home theater. All in with my projector/receiver/speakers/sub/screen and various other components I was in less than three grand and I couldn't be happier with what I did. I have had it for...five or six years now I think. I bought the most expensive (at the time) Monoprice flush mount speakers with the carbon fiber drivers. I put two rectangle ones in the wall up front, the center channel speaker and four round carbon fiber ones in the ceiling. I bought some JBL 12 inch powered sub. I have a Sony 7.2 capable receiver. I have a pretty large size open basement and the area we set it up in works great. Crisp sound, all channels are distinct. I mean I am sure if I spent tons of money it could be better, but for what I got out of what I did I am very happy with the value. I still have some of the photos from when I asked around here:
https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24433

Looking at my purchase history it looks like I did a 106" screen which was the biggest I could fit. I am really happy with the in wall/ceiling speakers because they are very unobtrusive. We insulated the walls and ceiling a lot when we finished the space because we knew we would be going with flush mount stuff. All that really remains for me at this point is eventually going to a 4K Projector which at a cursory glance is still very expensive.

i really like my monoprice monolith sub, and the specs on their speakers are really impressive

def worth a serious look imo

Shouldn't it be up for renewal by now then?

And good luck, I hear appointments at the DL office are pushed out well into August. I need to renew mine too, but my last renewal was in person (and I have the gold star), so I can do it online. May as well do it now, since I'm thinking about it.

Also it's easy to get a certified copy of your birth certificate if you were born in TX - you can do it all online, though you'll need your current ID (don't need a picture, but you need the ID # and the audit #). It takes about a month, and costs $22. Short form version is fine for everything except a passport (or if you're Obama). https://ovra.txapps.texas.gov/ovra/order-birth-certificate I need to order the long form so I can get a passport..
