Im having a hard time deciding if Canucks fans or Flyers fans have it worse. Sabres are up there too but at least expectations are lower overall.

If anything, it looks like point totals may be a bit inflated for teams that get to play in the East division:

I still think the Central and West are both worse.

Luckily for Edmonton that is who they play more of should normal divisions come back.

So the east is 75% bad and the west is worse? I guess at the end of the season there's one good team and a bunch of lose, so checks out.

Flyers have won cups, there is no comparison misery wise at all. I'm not saying that it's great being a Flyers fan at all, but the Sabres and Canucks are in a world of their own hockey wise. They're senior members of the pro sports sadness club along with the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, Phoenix Suns, LA Clippers, Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets and Indiana Pacers.

The "but I haven't seen my team win a cup" thing doesn't expire until the championship literally passes from living memory like it did with the Cubs. I guess the Cleveland Baseball team are getting close.

This is what happens when you disrespect Cam Neely

Robertson is clearly an awesome player and in my view it's inarguable that he is the best rookie, but I wonder if that stat isn't a bit misleading from a context perspective.. I mean the Stars as currently constituted have a scoring line and then a bunch of players who have never contributed any positive offensive impact at 5v5. if you're comparing time Robertson is on the ice vs. time Robertson is off the ice you are comparing him, Roope Hintz and Pavelski to Radek Faksa, Andrew Cogliano and Jake Dowling.

I think POJ is sick or something. He was scratched recently in WBS

Hornqvist had gotten to be a mildly bad contract but Matheson's was much much worse. It's hard to make any sense of it. (Plus, if you so desperately lust after a defenseman whose only selling points are being big, A Tough Gritty Hitter and a first round pick, why buy out JMFJ?) If ownership let that trade go through, the mind boggles at how hideous the Letang trade ownership vetoed that prompted GMJR's departure must have been.

Good Soldier Svejk
Jul 5, 2010

Hornqvist's skillset is definitely still highly coveted around the league. The pens probably could've gotten decent value like a Rickard Rakell type or something but GMJR loves him some busted high draft pick reclamations

What I truly don't get is the fans who think he is a positive on the ice. I feel like I am watching a different sport on a different planet reading their praise. He is positionally every bit as bad as JMFJ was he can just skate/shoot better. When his legs go he's going to be traaaash

It makes me uncomfortable when you could substitute "Letang" for "Matheson" and still be just as valid a sentence.

(Letang's Cool Offensive Things to Free Breakaways ratio is, um, a fair bit better than Matheson's)

Rangers get eliminated tonight with a Boston win I think. They may also get eliminated if they lose to the Caps but that won’t happen cause the Caps are in shitshow mode coasting to the playoffs.

To get in the Rangers need to win their remaining 4 games and Boston has to lose their remaining 6 in regulation. Any Rangers loss or the Bruins going at least 0-5-1 down the stretch means Rangers miss.

Laine as a 4th line player/1st power play specialist is a great fit. He just needs to travel back to before salary cap and sign with an already dominant team.
