See "Bond girls", the teen sex comedy, the 'erotic thriller', the saxophone-backed sex scene in almost every 80s film. It's almost laughable how obvious the thinking was. It's like with anti-tobacco advertising laws; when stricter laws meant films weren't throwing in smoking by any means necessary it becomes super obvious how much was product placement compared to reality. Like, BvS has Superman and Lois gently caress in a bathtub and no one ever brings it up. Gratituous sex is out, making room for actual intimacy, and when sex shows up it's actually meaningful characterisation-wise.
