There must be some element of being a vtuber is a more ideal situation for any female streamers because they won't get harassed about their appearance, and they aren't recognized in public. The freaks are still gonna freak, but a vtuber doesn't have to sit through scrolling walls of comments complaining she doesn't look good because she didn't put on makeup. Like, what are the options for female streamers? Everyone assumes they're a camgirl or fake gamer girl for the most part. At least with a facerig model its treated like a deliberate performance and not hot tub yoga asmr.

I can believe this. The audience for vtubers is larger part young men, and they are getting exposed to women's lives in a way they otherwise wouldn't have been. A story from your oshi will resonate harder than metoo in the news. A positive side-effect of the vtuber-thing for sure.
