I drove a Stinger today.

I don't think I liked it. Something is wrong with me.

Edit: my wife thinks it's the sticker shock, I had trouble justifying the truck and it was cheap. $40k just makes my head spin and my stomach hurt.

My moms ‘14 Fusion is starting to stall out when making turns out of places. Absolutely mint, 60k Mike’s, been at the dealer since new (stepdad worked at Ford 37 years). Dealer has already slung a fuel pump at it. Seeing lots of of reports of expensive engine repairs after 55/60k mikes and dealer isn’t going to sit and diagnose - they have 200 vehicles waiting on service because they have no new cars.

If Ford made cars it would be a no brainer. Probably the only thing I can talk her into non-Ford is Camry unless the Accord is just that good. Any trim or features we should go for? Price isn’t really an issue but she won’t use the tech so no point overpaying.

I'd driven one before, but that was prior to being able to reasonably afford a new car and I loved it. I think since it wasn't a viable option I was genuinely in love with the car. But now we could afford it but spending that kind of money on any car doesn't work in my head.

So that sucks. Another reason for therapy I guess.

I've ran into the same thing, dreamed about owning a particular car forever then drive it and can't figure out why people pay what they do for it. Test drive all the cars, eventually you'll find something that makes you smile.

I haven’t found a car too small for me yet. I like them tiny and turbocharged. I’m daily-ing a 500 Abarth now, and I’d like to get a Kei car like a Beat or Cappuccino for the collection.

It just felt way too cramped for me, I mean I knew it was going to be small but it felt claustrophobic in there.

And more of a problem is my hobbies, I go camping/fishing/paddleboarding (sometimes all of those at once) and that would have REALLY been pushing the limits of the roof and cargo area :v: I really should probably have a big SUV or a truck but gently caress that.

Same. I barely fit in a NA, can probably drive an NB, and an NC is doable, but still a bit small. The NC is back to NA size. I'm almost looking over the top of the windshield frame. Really more right at it.

I've never tried an Elise, but I fit fine in an MGB, for example. They have those footboxes that extend way out under the hood bonnet.

Normally:
$0-1500 beater: any and all including salvage titles is fine
$1501-5000: beater: nothing involving in the major structure of the vehicle. No salvage titles.
$5001+: No crash damage of any kind.

I won't resuscitate any tired shitbox with a compromised structure. Its solely a vin to haul parts around.

Where to start. My neighbor has a helper for his farm. I had him come over when he’s free to do yard work, which turned into him helping with the ice storm repairs to our property. Really nice guy. Maybe not 100% there- but a friendly, skilled, and hard working guy. He ran into an ex this spring and they started seeing each other shortly after. Well, this is where things fell apart. He wasn’t showing up to help the neighbor and always had off excuses. Not like him at all. It turns out whenever he didn’t call or txt her exactly what he was doing, every few hours that she would turn it into a massive fight- staying up all night and into the next day, arguing. I didn’t think too much about it, but here we are three weeks straight where he’s telling us he’s not sleeping due to fighting. At this point it’s clear that it’s a really toxic relationship which has turned to abuse. I’m leaving out the details, but just the nail marks and bruises alone speak to what he’s saying. I’ve got to sit him down today once he wakes up (came over early this morning and just passed out on the couch after explaining he had not slept again due to her fighting all weekend over a missed txt) and see if he wants to stay over for a week to let his head clear. Give them some space to think.

Been there. It's been decades but i remember it well, if the guy has low self esteem it will be tough to get him out of it, he has to like himself first before he can make that step. You get out of life what you tolerate, and it's hard for some people to grasp that.

Fortunately for me (or unfortunately really) I grew up in a physically abusive environment so I knew pretty quick I needed to GTFO when my live in girlfriend decided she wanted to fight me every time we had an argument. I was able to leave before it got really bad thankfully, but after I left she found out where I was living and the police had to be called to come get her. It was a nightmare.

well it's not necessarily a deal breaker for most people if a car has been in an accident, but it all depends on how bad it was and how well was it fixed.

unless you are looking for a car in perfect condition, statistically speaking, more and more of the potential cars you look at will be in some sort of an accident as the age of the vehicles increase.

keep in mind Carfax isn't really that accurate and lots of accidents are fixed without any Carfax record.

Poor fucker. I remember the time I dated someone who would pick a particular topic, action or whatever that I supposedly did wrong and then start an argument about it. What sucks is when she wasn't doing this she was fantastic.

I think my 'favourite' argument was when she decided that me using full stops/periods on the end of my text messages to her felt harsh. (I'm not kidding).

I'd agree with all of this, with some slight preference for accidents that are more recent. A new enough vehicle is so expensive to replace that major, in-depth repairs could still be financially viable. Something on the slow side of the depreciation curve that has an accident but not a total, says that it really was fairly minor damage.

Especially at modern parts/labor rates. When I wrecked my CR-V at the end of 2019, the full retail rate for the repair was about 40% of the vehicle, and the largest parts that had to be replaced were the fender and the driver's front strut.

And then on the other hand, something like a FiST that's probably been abused? An accident is almost certainly a show-stopper unless the car is cheap.

I'd need full photo documentation of the accident and body shop invoices from a reputable place if there was anything above say, replacing the bumper cover or a light. Even then I'd still want the documentation.
