I mean, I think it's also that the Sixers/Simmons situation is way different than most star-talent-on-the-move situations. If the choice is keeping a young All Star who's an elite defender or acquiring a solid role player on a decent contract, a mildly intriguing 20 year old and a bunch of picks, the team that finished first in its conference last season doesn't have a particularly compelling reason to sell itself on the theoretical upside of the hodgepodge of Assets

That would be a great point if the head coach and star player of the 76ers hadn't shredded Simmons. And then they very publicly talked about how he would be traded. Anyone trading for him knows he needs to add some offensive game to be worth his contract. And they know he's not likely to develop that game in Philly because certain key members decided to scapegoat him. The argument for Philly having the upper hand in bargaining a trade for him is very peculiar.

Simmons has an offensive game. He's a positive offensive player when playing usually He just had a really bad playoffs, and an extremely bad moment that will probably follow him for the rest of his career. Not being able/willing to Shoot != Not having an offensive game.
