one thing i always wonder about w/ people like that is who they get for their mechanic. if i was running a shop and someone rolled in with something like that, or one of those other unhinged cars w/ all the handpainted writing on it i'd just ask them to go elsewhere, because why would you deal with that

There's a NAPA auto parts store in my new town that has the words "LIES LIES LIES" randomly in big letters in its front window and always has a bunch of cars with thin blue line stickers out front so I imagine there's gonna be plenty of sympathetic people around who are mechanics.

here’s something fun from a paper i read today. when sinclair buys a station, the composition of the county commissions in the dma for that station shift 3% to the right. sinclair can literally flip close voting demographics with their constant garbage they flood the local news with.

Not that it's a total non-issue, it's still awful, but it seems like diminishing returns.

Pennsylvania has a 15% voter registration advantage for Democrats over Republicans. the areas that are Republican are extreme minority population areas, the Philadelphia + urbanized collar county area has a higher GDP than the entire rural county inventory of the state combined. You just need to keep the game up long enough to maintain a legislative minority majority that can neuter at-large elections in the state. Once you're done with that, and you can control redistricting, it doesn't matter. Turns out demographics aren't destiny after all, if you can make the mass of land in a state completely unbearable to anyone but your hardcore base.

There's a weird idea among liberals that elections will continue as they always have in this country in our lifetime and our parents' lifetimes. Conservatives are openly telling us that they will not and that they will do everything they can to make sure that votes don't matter.
