I bought Mannequin Pussy tickets a few months ago for what would be my first show back as the pandemic waned. While that turned out to be a bad guess, it’s a vaccination only venue and we have a mask mandate here, so it still felt like a pretty safe choice, and I was excited to go tonight. Except it turns out the show was 10 days ago and I am stupid.

Been thinking recently about some artists that seemed to have disappeared over the years and who I've missed. One of them were The Russian Futurists, who in the early-mid 00s put out some of the most perfect bedroom pop I've ever heard. I really like Charly Bliss, but my wife can't stand the lead singer's voice, and this morning it occurred to me that she sounds kind of like if Kristen Schaal had a rock band, then I rewatched the Westermarck video and decided the rest of the band's aesthetic kind of matches up with that too they're good though I swear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9DEK9mNVRU
