Of course the right-wingers will only bitch about him calling Fidel Castro a "remarkable leader". Which considering what Castro had to face and survive is kinda the understatement of the century.

So he is into kissing sleeping women without their consent ("for their own medical good!"x2), like to lie about his identity (PRINCE ALI), like to kidnap kids to bring them to his island full of pirates, don't mind blackmailing old people and imprisoning their daughters until they marry him, is ready to usurp the throne of England from his brother Richard, plan to seduce a Nordic princess and to murder her to become ruler, it's what you are saying? Because i would really like to see a positive Disney prince one day. I guess Arthur is okay.

I didn’t read the politico story that headlines from but in a kind of cynical way desantis has done really well for himself during covid, building a national brand and ingratiating himself to the conservative spectrum—lot of corpses and poor public policy in his wake and maybe it comes back to bite him in the rear end—but he’s certainly a winner on an individual and career trajectory metric at least as of right now

right but all that career trajectory and brand building poo poo happens, in part, because of the insane media spin thanks to the bar being so loving low for the GOP

when my nurse friend was living in Florida, I literally had to read the news to her because all that was getting passed around were the fawning headlines. she was convinced that DeSantis was doing everything possible until then. she got the gently caress out of the state a few months later.

Yeah he’s clearly awful in a billion ways, and I don’t follow Florida closely so maybe he’ll get his comeuppance, but it’s hard not to call him a winner at the moment even if that win is built on a huge pile of avoidable deaths and human misery. Which to be real says a lot about what looks like winning in the hellscape that is the USA

If the trash press didn't fawn over him, he wouldn't be seen as a winner. It's circular that way. "Well he must be a winner because he keep selling him as one??"
