Maybe in the original draft, that is how he would have followed Holli, go back to the lab where he came in; and he'd then use his toon hinted-at-powers to stop her, instead of meeting up with what'shisname and getting killed soon after. Also, how did holli not lose her shoe when she shoved it up superman's rear end? And, you think the cops in Cool World would be armed with pens or something, since, you know, they can explode a badguy just by jabbing them. My head hurts. "the pain is unbearable," he declared, the luminous sperm shaking in his grip.   noid civilians wandered downtown serenely, unconcerned by the multi-faced black ghosts shooting through the air or the tsunami of gibbering liquefied flesh consuming the union plaza hotel.  one by one, the innocent noids began to go doodle.    "hit me!" ordered a plump gambler, and the dealer decked him with a doodle boxing glove.   a table of old men playing poker turned into doodle dogs playing poker.    men and women, young and old, all went doodle. nobody was safe.      a slavering doodle jazz wolf pursued a screaming human waitress between tables; a sleazy hustler turned into a squat reptilian. nobody seemed to care about any of it.     "the world has only one chance left!" the hero announced.   no trace of jack, the haunted and stoic noid cartoonist that we knew, was visible in the hero. the shape, the voice, the soul - all of these had changed in an instant. this spandex caricature had subsumed jack deebs entirely. what became of the man who had once inhabited that space? we can only guess.  "it's up to me to return the spike," the hero said again. "and plug the hole!"

For those who didn't watch the ending clip posted about a page ago, the last two of those three lines were clearly put in after the entire ending had been animated. No matching mouth movements, nothing. Just a last second frantic attempt to remind viewers what the hell is going on while animated bullshit explodes across the screen left and right. It's like when a writer forgets to say a character's name in dialogue because they see it in the script all the time. They forgot they were telling a story for someone besides themselves. That might be giving them too much credit. There really isn't much of a story going on.
