So I have a question that quick googling does not have an answer for. I have a friend that for at least the past year whenever he has an assignment his mission does not show up on the host's map; if this person is not the host then usually his mission is not selectable. This is not an in-progress assignment mismatch because, for example, he has not played since the Rival Incursion update, he selected the Hurricane assignment mission 1, and I, being the host, could not see his assignment. In fact, it was in a biome that was out of scanner range for me. I have completed all assignments so again, this was not an in-progress mismatch.

Has anyone else run into this or can explain what might cause it? Numerous updates, validations, restarts and mission abortions haven't been able to fix this problem.

It's happened to me with friends several times before as well. I've got no idea how to fix it though, aside from him hosting the mission or leaving and rejoining the squad instead.

I think changing the difficulty or having the host cycle missions might kick it into showing. Not sure which but that's usually a client not seeing it if they pick up the quest after the host selects, which isn't the same issue. Still, might be worth a try to go up/back down a difficulty level, or pick a different mission and then back to the quest one?

Did you happen to grab the map seed to report it? I forget where exactly it shows but it's there somewhere.

Are his computer's time settings different than yours? I think the current mission rotation cycles might be based on that and could be out of sync.

Technically yes because he's Central Standard and I'm Eastern Standard which means he's an hour behind me, but I play with people from Finland pretty regularly who are 6-7 hours ahead of me without discrepancy.

Lotta toxic micromanagers playing lately. One match had a mic berate me for bringing slow grenades instead of freeze grenades. During a full length escort had a 300+ account level host lose his loving mind in chat at me drilling because I went back to a previous room to grab oil shale rather than try to eke out scraps for the last quarter tank. This was the fourth canister I'd filled on that mission.

Managed to drill it straight down about a hundred meters before he stopped his ranting and kicked me. Maybe not very rock and stone but it felt good. Will be good when the lovely people get bored again and can have good and chill dwarves as the norm.

On a sad note I have all the new weapon OCs now, new secondary weapons when?

Give it a season or 2: they have to try to think up new and original weapon ideas (and overclocks for them) to make them feel different from and complement the other 2 secondaries each class has.

That being said the crew showed some excellent creativity with these three weapons so I have high hopes for whatever they think of.

Yeah there's only so many things you can do to make new and unique guns and sticking overclocks on top of that makes things even harder. I guess they could raid more of UT's catalogue and give someone the Ripper and someone else the Flak Cannon though

Cant decide If I like the weakspot bonus or the splash bonus on the 4th(?) Tier of the hurricane more. It splits so evenly between direct and splash that 50% weakspot bonus feels pretty good and I have the clean OC that buffs the splash to make up for the lack of it.

So far ive just been specializing splash or direct damage with the accompanying OCs but I want to see if I can balance it a bit since the splash with fire feels pretty overkill on most swarms.

I felt the opposite, interestingly; the slow is so incredibly powerful that you end up being kind of invincible. Even without taking damage mods it also weakens bugs nicely for one shot pickaxing, and often melts them outright if you land a charged hit on a clump.

Yeah I am also having a good time with the goo gun for this reason. It feels like a more flexible sticky fuel to me because of the range; you can plop a line of goo down on a wall where grunts are advancing and the goo does most of the work for you. You have to re-learn how to play with it because ideally you want to be covering the floor with it instead of hitting directly, but that does a fair amount of damage. Combined with the armor eating upgrade it's an assist machine for the rest of your team to clean up what's left.

It's definitely different but once you get the hang of it it's pretty versatile. I expected to go back to the cryo cannon immediately but I've kept going with the goo gun and it might be my new favorite.

Yeah, every once in a while I'll get a pubbie that talks on mic. Generally people know what they're doing though so it's rarely necessary.

And yeah, most people are civil. You get outliers though. In one game when someone went off on their own and triggered a dreadnought, I typed "I guess someone wants to play solo". He said back over mic chat, "I guess someone needs to shut the gently caress up." I just promptly left in the middle of the fight.

One of my friends I play co-op with incessantly bitches and moans about how often you get drops for other classes in this game like it's some conspiracy against him and it drives me up the wall. Last night the new thing is how dumb and unfair it is that each path in the cosmetics tree requires you to take things for multiple classes to get to the end. Every time we infuse a core I pray that he gets something decent so he quits complaining for a while lol.

Hover boots are a quick burst used to cushion a fall, you hit the button just before landing and it stops you from taking damage. Not really sure you could use it to mine or get up to an area you couldn't otherwise unless I'm unaware of some cool technique.

I always have them equipped, it's just too valuable once you learn the muscle memory of hitting it when you fall instead of flailing around and doing nothing.

I've been enjoying the goo gun a lot. Don't have any OCs for it yet. Running extra ammo, cheaper charge cost, bigger puddles, more puddle damage. I forget what the math is regarding how many total charged shots you can do but the difference between 4 ammo per charge and 5 ammo per charge is large when combined with expanded ammo bags.

I shoot goo everywhere. On the floors, on the walls, on the ceilings, onto holes in the wall, onto downed dwarves, onto standing dwarves. I flood the level with goo and swap to my quick charge plasma burster to rip a charged shot into it and light it on fire. It's a good time and I can't wait to check out the OCs.

TBF the hover boots in particular could be a sticky issue. Make them too powerful and they overshadow the classes' traversal powers and become a must-have perk.

But yeah agreed that the perks need an overhaul.

The Engie rocket jump is superior to shotgun jump in one subtle but critical way: You can affect other players. I have very fond memories of exploding a friend onto a high platform and listening to him be very confused on voice chat.

EPC charged shots set fires??

It does because the goo gun isn't set on fire by heat, it's set on fire by fire damage. (Which is weird, because it's heat that causes the burning status effect on enemies, not fire damage.)

Fire damage is just a damage type, heat is the status effect. Charged EPC shots innately do some fire damage, and TCF does all fire damage, despite neither inflicting heat.

It was mentioned before but, for the LOK-1, 23111 is pretty much the obvious introductory build. I would suggest testing out 21111 (taking the tighter lock-on area) once you've gotten the hang of it, because deliberately picking targets for your shots and angling to hit weakpoints is likely going to get you better results than just blasting out maximum bursts into swarms at random.

I don't like TCF much, it'll still set goo on fire if I take Flying Nightmare in t5 instead, right, or is the explosion the necessary part
