I was being a hulking hobo commie cop, but balked at the -2 visual calc debuff from the sociocultural-makivuan-whatever commie thought. I forgot it, then realised I could have balanced it out with all the extra xp from my socialist ramblings.

Is there any way to get that thought back? Are there other commie thoughts or have I locked myself out of that tree now?

It's weird with the ideologies and how they show up in conversation. Sometimes you have to have the actual thought available, sometimes you have to have it actually in your cabinet, sometimes just having enough communism points will do it. Forgetting a thought unfortunately takes it out of even being available to you.

Honestly, while communism might ultimately pay off, I don't think there's enough time in the game for it to make up for its negatives.

Thanks for the answers. That's disappointing because I still want to pick the commie dialogues when they appear but I'm not sure if discarding the thought has blocked me from any payoffs. Ah well I can see myself replaying a lot so no biggie

Communist/Moralist is the best option.

Lenin was wrong, the vanguard party is bullshit, and great leaps into communism are nonsense. We need slow, technocrat-managed, gradual progress towards communism. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGnTviNA0oE

Oh yeah, there's some commentary there.

COMMUNARDRY: a good long term investment. Maybe, maybe just barely not counterproductive if spun up to deal with an emergent crisis.
HUSTLEGRIND: look, you COULD cultivate meaningful relationships with your fellow human beings, OR, you could get some skrilla, which could be spent on e.g. a pair of actually comfortable pants made by the pants scientists of a distant land
ZE PRICE STABILITE: if the airships started dropping bombs, what could you do? What, really, could you do? Just take it on faith that they're good people who wouldn't do that and it'll help you be more stable and focused in your day-to-day.
WELCOME TO REVACHOL: don't talk about what you actually want to happen, it'll just get you mad that it isn't happening as is patently right and just. Just get drunk and cultivate a more general meanness.

I've had this sitting in my Steam library for ages but I finally sunk a few hours into it yesterday and I'm finding it extremely entertaining. Having frequented these forums for the past 20 years I was initially at somewhat of a disadvantage, though, because so many of the dialogue responses are worded like an enthusiastically sarcastic SA Forums post, so that was the vibe I was going for when I selected them, but no, it turns out they're sincere so I'm actually a sexist pig.

Kind of regretting my choice to put only one point into the physical statline, too.

That's the exact sequence I got! On second thought, that poo poo is hilarious. Other things which have almost killed me:

1) Knocking on a door too hard.
2) Kicking a furnace.

I've only used like two health items to stay alive so far and I have none left but it seems like the morale ones are way more common because I'm sitting on five and haven't used a single one (because I went deep on the mental statline, I assume). I guess I can buy more at the pharmacy?

Day 3 spoilers

Started my day off by slamming some speed in my hotel room and cracking open the secret compartment on my ledger. Shivers talked me into reading its contents outside so I went out on the patio and promptly passed out from misery. The game over fakeout was cute. Then I immediately proceeded to go over the bridge and discover my car and badge. Things are going great!!

As soon as I did the visual calculus on the broken fence I assumed that the PC was responsible given, you know, everything. That’s probably the only plot beat that hasn’t surprised me so far. This game is delightful.

And a question that I would be happy to just get a y/n answer to:

Is there a way to get onto the roof of the hotel before the point I just got to? Was playing with the zoom settings and saw a lady smoking up there. I’m sure I’ll get up there at some point but don’t want to miss anything important just because I’m walking past a door or something like a big sorry cop idiot.

Wondering if I might have to uninstall this game from my Switch to stop myself from replaying it like 5 times in the space of a few months and ruining it for me. I've already got my next two runs planned out (1/6/4/1 Fascist Boring Cop build since they're the only ideology & copotype I've yet to do, 3/3/3/3 completionist as possible tryhard Wompty Dom/Art Cop Communist EXP build to make up for me not finishing the commie vision quest on my first playthrough), but seeing as I've already done 3 playthroughs in 3 months I really should wait a little longer...

I was out of my head so it was out of my hands

I started about a month ago and am on day 2 of my third playthrough

First I was 5/4/1/2 whatever cop. Didn't pay attention to thoughts. Sober and sorry. Big brain, empathy and esprit de corps, got stuck and died kicking the ice cream maker. Let him stay dead.

Second I went 1/2/5/4 just to flip it, cop of the apocalypse. All shivers half light electro and perception. All drugs all day.

Third I'm 1/5/2/4 libcop in denial about his substance problem. Focus authority/suggestion, and hand eye/reaction speed. Hoping to pick up a fun thought but I don't want to look them up.

I still want to see how chaotic things can get, how smoothly the end can go and

I don't think I've fully figured out the Cuno.

Oh and obviously I can win her back right? Right?!
