Does Ken get to see the final bets before they're revealed? Because he set up that reveal PERFECTLY.

Christine posted on Reddit: Until reading this recap I forgot that I missed DD3. Well, that's why I bet small. I was holding on to that lead like my dog with a new toy. I have been dreading for 2 months the roasting I was going to get for that FJ wager. I know how to wager properly. I've practiced, I got Zoom tutoring from a friend who's a former professional gambler (no, not THAT guy LOL). I checked and re-checked my math, and it wasn't until I was triumphantly writing down my FJ response that I realized I had forgotten to tack on the extra buck. So then I had to wait the 15 minutes or so it took them to set up the tiebreaker round, try to make myself stop self-flagellating, and get ready for the single most important buzz of my entire life.

NBC kindly waited until the local news was going to tell us what's going to be on at 11 before cutting into the broadcast. That was nice of them. Reminds me of when the cops waited to gas BLM protesters two summers ago until Jeopardy started, because they knew our station wasn't going to cut away. Edit: It's back in time for Wheel, of course.

This is clear evidence to support why having Jeopardy after wheel is superior. I only missed what happened up to the first commercial break.

It's been said a million times here, but it seems like more people than you'd expect don't put any other thought into their bets than "the more money I have at the end the likelier I am to win."

I like that she made a post on Reddit basically saying, “I hosed up, and I’ve been waiting for everyone to call me out on it.” Humanizing, because you’d better believe I’d gently caress up way worse than that if I were on national TV. At least she still won. Wild poo poo.

She was just honoring Arthur Chu's strategy.
|
# ? Feb 24, 2022 18:38 |
The only bad thing from Arthur Chu's run was that he caused the tiebreaker to be instituted because drat he had the math right on that one and it owned super hard.

loving up the wagering checks out with me, as the only parts of Jeopardy I’ve ever cared about are the clues and pun-based category titles.

I AM GRANDO posted:loving up the wagering checks out with me, as the only parts of Jeopardy I’ve ever cared about are the clues and pun-based category titles. Same. It's a logic puzzle and I'm terrible at those. I'd have to cram on wagering theory if I ever got on and I'd probably still botch it if I weren't in the lead going into Final.

I studied it and knew what I wanted my strategy to be in my second game and had practiced the math in that same scenario but gently caress it still took me three tries to get the math right on the spot.

The game I lost the category was "state birds" and the answer was "Baltimore Oriole" as the state bird of Maryland, but I didn't know that was a baseball team so all I could get from the clue (that asked for a two-word bird) was "oriole" because the clue said its name came from the latin for "gold" lol.

Did she really just guess Von Trapps for fictional families? I guess she couldn't think of anything else and that was the only one she could think of in a hurry.

I guessed that too, haha Christine's accent is tripping me out. There's the obvious Southern influence, but she also pronounces "-ing" as "ink" like a Slavic accent.

The name Addams was in some other question in one of the earlier rounds, and at the time the spelling of it made me think of the Addams Family.

The best I could come up with was Flintstones, guessing they were a strip before a cartoon, but I was sure there was no Broadway production (there was a live stage show maybe, but not on that level). It was super obvious once the right answer was revealed.

Iron Crowned posted:I guessed Addams immediately, although I had no clue that there was a stage production. The local theatre group here did a production of it a few years ago. It's more sweet than quirky. The New Yorker cartoons were the immediate tip-off to me,, though I haven't sat down to watch the original TV show, I adore both 1990s movies and watched the 1990s cartoon when it was on Fox Kids.
