just got the "hey, we're opening up <5 vax recruiting--do you want to schedule a screening call?" email from the pfizer site nearest to me. i said, "yeah, obviously," but wonder how this all might interact if moderna gets a surprise auth in the us or canada this month. i'd read that pfizer were demanding some weird poo poo WRT unblinding recently, but it's also been so long. so much worrying. a 66% chance of getting a vaccine of any sort in my kid's arm would be nice.

My daughter dodged COVID at school and she was rewarded with her first shot this weekend as she just turned five  My wife also got her 4th shot at the same time. Now we just have to wait for our youngest who’s under 5 and the approval, I’m hoping it happens before we have to travel this summer internationally but I’m guessing it won’t happen. Maybe I should try to get him in a trial for under 5s.

i don't really know how to articulate the grief i feel about potentially exposing my vulnerable and medically fragile patients to covid. this is not why i went into ems. i do not want to maim or kill my patients

I spent the entire morning yesterday responding to my dad with a massive, detailed email full of stats and numbers and links to sources and explanations. I'm full of self-loathing but it was a good, informative email that stuck to facts and took emotion out of it. Just heard back. You did what you could

Petey, do you have info for how to get a second 5 day course (aka a ten day course) for paxlovid? My uncle with cancer in remission just got prescribed pax but I'm hoping he can get the bonus dose His best friend/coworker's wife is a MD so he got it no problem

Trying to get some carpet installed in my house. Wholesaler gave me a list of people they normally work with. First one I called was in the hospital, 3rd one never responded to the message I left (presumed dead at this point or maybe just busy idk). 2nd one was supposed to show up on Saturday morning, after he was an hour late I called him and he apologized and came over to do measurements. Turns out he was at the hospital visiting his father and his best friend (two different people) who are both dying. Extremely normal stuff going on.

Farewell plague company. I accepted an offer today with a start date in a few weeks. I will return from vacation on Monday and immediately resign with 1 week of notice (which I will work from home). I’d give them zero notice but I have a team that I want to make sure are as okay as possible. gently caress that place and gently caress Florida.

lol paxlovid's method of action doesn't actually assist the body in eliminating extant virus, it disrupts further replication of the virus if you're already stuffed to the gills with COVID, paxlovid will stop there from being MORE, but it won't help fix the poo poo that's already there!
