Yeah Ugly Sonic's model is different and I don't think they ever actually address him as being on the Sonic the Hedgehog film so it skates by on being a blue ugly hedgehog that might or might not go fast

I read an article where the director said Disney did pay to license the character but wouldn't say at what cost

Ugly Sonic might meet some legal definition of parody, but with how notoriously bad the reception of the original movie design, the delay to the film to redesn him, and the fact that you gotta directly compare the Chip and Dale Ugly Sonic to the STH original trailer, it makes it so he doesn't register as parody.

The tweaks they made to him, making him look generally exhausted and having a beer gut, are really clever ones. It makes anyone who followed the Sonic movie saga a few years back really believe Ugly Sonic's downfall. Ugly Sonic's story is ironically better conveyed than Chip and Dale's.

You can use Sonic, but I want a personalized magic band. Or the deal is off.

I did catch the Bob's Burgers movie and it's quite good. They really made it work as a feature, I didn't feel like they were stretching to fill time or trying too hard to make the plot bigger, it's paced really well. Beyond that, it just is funny and joyful in the way the show is.

Is the movie pretty standalone? Haven't kept up with Bob's Burgers for a few good seasons now.

Yep. Apparently last season foreshadowed the sinkhole a bit but that’s it.

I haven't watched the movie, but movies take a long time to produce, so usually the timeline is intentionally kept vague for this sort of thing.

I watched some of the first season, and then since then have seen the clips on youtube but haven't sat down and watched a full episode. Nothing about the movie was confusing. There's stuff that is mentioned that the series establishes that has a little baring on the plot, Louise never taking her bunny ears off, Tina having this weird zombie fetish, or Gene being really into music. But there's nothing like that that's really important to the overall plot.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

So I just saw an ad for this and I'm not quite sure how to feel about it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaHbTnA3qSA

On one hand its been so long that I ask "What is even the point of this?" but there were a few things in that trailer I found funny so maybe its what we need? Maybe its because I thought it was going to be a pure space movie but the time travel reveal has some potential.

the important thing about that is that the episodes are coming to streaming with music videos intact

now everyone can know about the plantman. or that a black hole is a giant bunghole in the sky that sucks everything up. etc.

Gravity Falls is turning ten years old on the 15th. I was thinking of doing something I did back when Futurama was coming back for its first revival. Anyone interested in a re-watch topic for Gravity Falls, an episode a day, starting the 15th?

I liked the first run of Castlevania, so I'm interested - but if its different writers it could have a completely different vibe. So  The shot of that character looks very much the same style though, which is good to see.

I'm crazy about the games and monster zoos in general but really bounced off the show - it had big stiff 90s OVA vibes and none of the dialogue sounded like it was recorded as a conversation, either sonically or as a result of people speaking smart-arse British comics writer at each other.

Basically, I hope this one has less edginess and more skeleton waiters dropping curry.

Olan Rogers started a Kickstarter for an animated movie of some kind. I think he’s hoping it will reignite some interest in Final Space and maybe help get a final season made.

Holy crap I think they invented new colours for this movie

It looks incredible. It may be too early to say but I'm thinking from Spiderverse onwards (Mitchells, Arcane, Bad Guys, this) we may be heading into a new golden age of animation

And yes more of the wolf is needed
