I mean if you want to rock LMGs and shotguns because you're getting tired of running the Everyone Dies quickhack, go with God, but it's basically a stylistic choice for a netrunner how they want to do things after murdering people with the programs in their brains.

the king was a guy. he lived in a big stone house you could light on fire and his son was ugly as poo poo. if you were talking poo poo on him, the king had to hear it from a guy who liked him and didn’t like you, and then send another guy to your village who had to find you to physically kick your teeth in. the king didn't have a panopticon surveillance state or a endless fleet of automated murder robots. and if the king wanted to speak to you or notify you of something generally, he had to send a different guy to stand on a corner, or on a horse, to blow a horn and announce things to you and your community, and maybe you and your friends would spit at that guy, because you knew he was from the king.

the king didn't whisper to you from your waking moments til you closed your eyes at night, speaking to you in the voices and faces of your smiling friends and family, beamed directly into your eyes and ears at all hours of the day, willingly received and paid for with the fruits of your labor. you didn't eat, drink, breathe, listen, dance, watch, read, immerse yourself in The King every day of your life. carry him around in your pocket and on your wrist and tell him all your deepest darkest secrets and also your bank passwords and what kind of porn you like.

well i am telling the king you said that :colbert:

Yeah, from the interviews it seems like Trigger went "This is a great story, but a crap anime. Make it more anime.", and then after RED couldn't quite get the rhythm of things, they went "Right. At this point, we should just show you what we mean, and you let us know if you have any questions."

The bones are from CD Project, but Trigger did a lot to flesh it out, from adding characters (most prominently Rebecca) and scenes (like the stretcher chase, added when CD Project and Trigger agreed they needed more to show why David and Lucy were into each other) to choosing the soundtrack and the aesthetic. Neither could have made it on their own, and for the most part people seem to acknowledge that, with praise going to both parties involved.

yeah, its keeps the spirit of the CD pr writing but its own flavor and tone and i think it works really well.

One thing to keep in mind, is that you can max 3 attributes (to 20) and still have 5 points to spare. That means, if that matters to you, you can't go over 8 on an attribute that's not one of the three you want to max out.

I really wish that Rebecca looked like an adult instead of a child, because her characterization was excellent and her voice actress was great too. Her character model bothers the gently caress out of me because she absolutely doesn't need to look like that and it's a big reason why I've checked out of a lot of anime.

I feel like the series is marred as a result which is really sad because otherwise it's a remarkable piece of cyberpunk fiction.

Even in the japanese she has an adult voice actor

I mean maybe it's weird if you've never seen a short adult woman who's sassy and abrasive, they exist

edit: she has a railgun in episode 9, did they release that?

edit2: I didn't like rebecca but I appreciated how much she cared about david, it made her more relatable

Yes, look at them. They are all slightly different, but that's because their bodies are augmented etc. But one has googly round pink eyes, a overly round head and different proportions. I noticed this immediately and to me doesn't fit with the others. I can't explain it any better but as someone who doesn't watch a lot of anime, she sticks out and looks out of place.

I'm level 22 now and netrunning is becoming kinda scary good. I've got the legendary contagion quickhack, bonus damage on unsuspecting targets and criticals applied. I'm branching out into breach software for the passive debuffs and it's absolute chaos. It's also super cool how I can hack a security camera and hack people through it or in rare cases pinball from one camera to the next.

Hell yeah. You can be a real technowizard if you want to. You can even ignore stealth and hack entirely during combat.

I'm at about that level too in my mantis blades/sandevistan playthrough, and I run into a situation, activate my fifteen seconds of slowmo, and stab all the gangoons to death before time returns to normal. I might even start pumping Cold Blood to get even more damage buffs.

I've got a question about the 1.6 changes and I can't find a good answer elsewhere. I know in.. 1.5, I think? they added the ability to re-customize your V's physical appearance via the mirror in your apartment, but it didn't let you change everything, but specifically the cosmetic cyberware on your face you pick at character creation.

Did this change in 1.6? Can you change that specific cosmetic cyberware via the ripperdoc changes in 1.6 now, or is it still locked as being unchangable?

Hmm, that's an interesting amount of effort for what's basically an essential dead engine. I guess they're writing these with some abstractions to allow easy porting to UE5.

Also, can't wait for the RTXGI patch.

Oh yeah. It's fun to see the progression though, you go from maybe short-circuiting a guy sometimes (but not enough to kill him) to spending five RAM to kill everyone in the building.

I've decided, I think my next run is gonna be either a tech sniper or a DOOM 2016-esque shotgun runner.

Tech sniper starts off bad enough that I seriously worried that I gimped myself that game and ends up with you basically becoming the Predator. The tech SMG they added in 1.6 is hilariously strong as well for something that looks like a fashion accessory. Unfortunately they did not add any crafting diagrams for the new weapons afaik so you'll need some luck finding one in stores or as a drop.

For new players, at some point in development you could use the monowire for hacking (hacking worked differently back then, I think before you could quick hack you had to breach, and breaching required some kind of physical access)

So little clarification on this.

1.5 added the ability to change some features with mirrors (in your apartments)

1.6 added ripperdocs to the list of appearance change locations and adds a few extra options including adding the facial cyberwear that you get at character creation. I think is also allows for changing your facial features while the home mirrors only do cosmetic changes like hair and make up.

I know because I decided get rid of the scar and add cyberwear to my face yesterday and had to go to a doc to handle it.
