Soviet doctrine in the 1940s against Nazi Germany was to send men into a meat grinder while simultaneously and continuously pummeling the Germans into PTSD that is so bad they did not give a poo poo if a German or Russian killed them they just wanted to die. Russia's experiencing the same thing now. However at a much lower morale point. The soldiers morale in tatters means that eventually they will not give a poo poo about life or death and end up causing a major detriment to any future offensives.

relevancy - CW referencing the guys from the aforementioned drone video :stare: that shot went in the loving stretcher.

either Ukraine used a guided shell there, or drones have made artillery stupid accurate. As a CW stringer to the aforementioned CW video there was another video where a buncha guys ran into a foxhole and the shell hit the entrance perfectly. Dont see the results visually but they're presumably all very dead

Russia can dig in to Crimea all it wants, but if Ukraine is getting this kind of effect from single-shot artillery rounds, the Russians are capital-F hosed.

Also extremely scary preview of future war (and future war crimes). As another posted mentioned upthread, these drones (and these rounds) are cheap AF. A DJI drone is <1000k USD, and base 155mm HE rounds are ~400 USD with smart munitions estimated to cost 2k. Someone could wipe out a platoon from beyond visual range for credit card money.

If it's the same video I saw then it wasn't a 155mm, you could see the projectile coming in on a flat trajectory (the 1st shot, anyway). M777s are capable of direct fire but this looked more like a thermobaric missile.
