They aren't even thermodynamically stable at room temp. If you simply wait long enough they will spontaneously turn back into carbon

you want a mineral that's forever, get some feldspar or something. not only is it super old and pretty pink but you can pick it up on the beach!

opals will scratch up and fracture just from regular wear, bumping into tables, that kind of thing. not really suited to rings

I want the one that's dark in the morning and light at night. I think that's this one?

I don't mind going to work while it's still dark. It's actually nice to see the sunrise. But I hate coming home after the sun has already gone down.

Up ta somethin'

welp, I can no longer change my work password because my workstation rejects every new password as failing to meet complexity requirements. IT support watched me type out a "password" exceeding every requirement in notepad, copy it, go to change password, paste it into the "new password" box, and have it rejected.

this has been dubbed "strange".

carry on then

Send them a link to the NIST password guidelines.

Key takeaways:

- do require a minimum length of at least 8 characters
- don't require arbitrary "complexity" rules like filling your password with special characters
- don't make passwords expire on a schedule
- allow users at least 10 attempts before locking them out
- SMS 2FA is not secure; either use an authenticator or skip it

Good ideas imo
