PL ending spoilers: Sided with So Mi in my second playthrough since I'd sided with Reed the first time around. Shout out to the writing and voice acting for Songbird, because right up until that train ride to the launchpad, I genuinely believed this person who had betrayed literally every character who knows her had turned a new leaf and obviously wouldn't betray me too. The escape from the stadium and the fight through the spaceport both did a great job of driving home how many people get killed when this person's plans go awry, as they always seem to do.

Was I supposed to be able to knock out the gunship's guns? They seem like they're supposed to be targetable, but nothing I used against the chopper--including an HMG--had any effect.

Speaking of mods, make sure you uninstall or disable “mod settings,” as that prevents the game from loading after the 2.02 patch.

Oddly enough Mod Settings hasn't been crashing my game but I removed it anyways until it's updated. The downside is that I had to uninstall Limited HUD as well because without Mod Settings to tweak it to my liking my options are either every HUD widget turned on or off.

I hate how the "combat music" often includes gun-shot sounds. It just makes me confused, as I wait to see if I'm actually being attacked.

It's a similar principle to "hating horns in music when driving, because I have to turn down the volume and make sure no one is honking at me."

In my case, it wouldn’t even launch until I uninstalled it. Once I did so, it was all smooth sailing.

Got king of pentacles, then checked out king of cups. This raises a question for me personally:
So, part of using the neural matrix to fix the relic involves wiping Johnny and despite the fairly optimistic tone of the docs it doesn't go totally right. So if I just, don't take their offer and go do Don't Fear the Reaper- Alt fixes my engram, extracts Johnny, and then they go off into the net. This removes like half of the melancholy part of letting the NUSA fix you. What would've happened if V just...fuckin went back to the NUSA and took their repair offer AFTER Don't Fear the Reaper? The circumstances are NOT the same for the Relic's status. The time given is always nebulous (and PL tries to walk back 1.X's implication that you have like 2-3 weeks to live tops IMO if you listen to its discussions on the relic) but in 1.X Alt makes it fairly clear IMO that getting your and Johnny's engrams disentangled and him off the chip has done *something* to make it kill you less quickly. What if you got it repaired after that?

i typed up more words, but they boil down to its 'but thou must' because the endings exploring different themes so of course you can't combo. it's why you can't tell anyone you're going into a major medical procedure either

when the 2.0 patch came around, it supposedly fixed a number of achievements players had earned but not yet received. in my case, it did this by giving me a slew of achievements i had never even had the cyberware to earn.

someone else upthread got that V achievement the same way as you, tho

I decided to try out Mantis Blades and respecced points into blade stuff.

I think I like them a bit more than Gorilla Arms, mainly because of the "leap to enemies" option (though I do miss the rag-dolling from the Gorilla Arms relic perk attack + the ground smash). It's also nice that you can unlock finishers before the final perk tier, while blunt weapons require 20 points in Body.

I'm guessing the "strong attack leaps to enemies" perk is useless with Mantis Blades and mainly just intended for katanas/swords (since they can already do that)?

I'm currently aiming for 20 Cool / 20 Reflex / 20 Tech / 9-15 Body with Intelligence as a dump stat (no deck, never liked smart weapons). Do the various stat checks support that gradual spread or should I endeavour to max one of them out first?

This is more or less how my build ended up, but I put 9 into Int to capitalize on the Tech perk. With gorilla arms, there's some Body checks I can't make, and I'm of course dumb as bricks around most things netrunning, but if you're not attached to being a novahot hacker I've not run into any problems.

The various checks will scale with your level. If you don't want to get stuck behind a bunch of locked doors, focus Tech and maybe one other ability that is going to be a damage stat first.

I'd go for 9 intelligence just to max your cyberware bonuses. Given that perks are locked behind tiers there's really little difference between Body 15 and Body 17, so I'd go with Tech and Athletics to 20, 16 to Cool and Body and 9 to Int. Adrenaline Rush is extremely good and pairs well with Chitin armor making your health regen insanely fast.

For other mods, I only use standalone mods like this, a CET plugin or two, and a few redscript mods. But I also play on GOG so it's easy to delay/skip patches if they break my current mod setup.
It's too bad this mod just dilates time between certain hours rather than changing the sunrise / sunset. That must be coded in deep. Still getting the desired effect of more night, which is really showing off how gorgeous this game can be on an OLED with HDR and RTX. I was close to saying Baldur's Gate 3 had equalled this game but there are moments it just goes "Nope, can't touch this."

Sometimes I want to try hacking, since parts of it sound fun, but having to deal with RAM management just seems like a huge pain in the rear end. I know there are ways to get around that issue (like various perks or OSes that reduce RAM cost, or the synergy between overclock and health regeneration abilities), but I'd rather not have to figure that stuff out.

And in the end I don't think I'd be willing to sacrifice my Sandevistan. It's too cool.

Is there a mod that makes the Beat on the Brat quests not completely stupid? I'm on Very Hard with literally zero points invested in Body or Reflexes, but gave Cesar a shot without any melee-boosting cyberware. The fight is literally unbeatable like this, his attacks are homing and telekinetic, and do a truckload of damage even if you block or counter. Dodging works maybe 1/3 of the time. Disappointing, but I'm not built for this, so I go get some Gorilla Arms and a Berserk and come back. Ten seconds, didn't even touch the Berserk button, and he's down. Rhino goes down just as easily, too. Both sides of this difficulty curve loving suck and are zero fun at all.

Maybe someday I'll do a max-stats, no-cyberware attempt, but I suspect it'll go as well as the first attempt here did.

Yeah I think all the day-/nighttime mods do it like that because the sunset/sunrise seems to be very hardcoded. It only really started to bother me after many hours in NC, at first I thought I was just unlucky with mission times but when I checked the clock and it's starting to get bright after 3am and it's only slowly getting darker after 9pm, well

It's also very good in the early game. Even if you can't upload all three daemons at once, don't go for "gives eurodollars" that will give you like 200 bucks, go for "gives quickhacks and stuff" (quickhacks you can sell for a few hundred to thousands even if they're just tier 1 or 2) - I didn't realize this during my first playthrough and was constantly broke in act 1 and 2 because I was buying clothes and then cars but then I realized my quickhack tab was full of hundreds of thousands of eddies in duplicate quickhacks.

The strategy that seemed pretty foolproof for everything but the "two guys at once" fight was "charge a strong attack and use it every time the enemy begins their attack animation." This seems to fully shut-down most boxing opponents. Forget about dodging (as you mention, they'll just home on you), and just interrupt all their attacks with a charged strong attack.

Countering also works if you can get the timing right, but the "interrupt all enemy attacks with a strong attack" approach seems more reliable.

My experience was that this did stop their attacks, but didn't actually deal any damage at all. It could have just been low stats, but I wasn't able to break their guard unless I managed to get beside/behind.
