In all fairness the Lynch movie did a kickass job with the Alia casting. No need to fix whut ain't broke to begin with.

That Children of Dune soundtrack totally slaps and older Alia was a fukken smoke show.

Those are the main things that I remember about that Children of Dune adaptation, even though I honestly liked the shorter Dune Messiah adaptation better of the like two partner or whatever it was. Prob cuz its a very lean an awesome sequel. Children of Dune always felt like 200 pages longer than it should have been.

Oh yeah and Alice Krige was an awesome older Lady Jessica and Steven Berkoff was great at Stilgar.

I'd imagine they'd know about shields but not the specifics of a fighting style focused around them. Similar to how Paul knows about the Fremen ways on paper but in practice is a whole 'nother thing.
